Hey Chris some really good info there and I like the way you explain what you are doing and why you do it at each step along the way it makes it a lot easier to follow👌 That budget gun does an amazing job at laying the base and the clear as the finish is really nice, seeing as you are not in a booth your jobs always seem to come out very clean👏👏👍John UK

Great teaching video. I owned an aircraft paint shop and would have to teach the guys the right way to prep and paint before they attacked a major job. I wish I had this video then. One little trick on the proper fluid volume. Turn off the air and then note the fluid stream…make it just less than a full stream. This also tells you about your reducer amount on a high solids paint.

I use Sata-95 for base and a Iwata for clear. I don't use the light on the spray gun. I like to do collision work, body work, primer, prep work, buffing black paints.

Great video! Can you tell about the light you attached to the gun? Does it help to get even coats when you spray? I usually get decent results when my lighting is good but that's not always the case. I have never tried to attach a light to the spray gun...

I like it, mostly fore basecoat or if I'm clearing something low where I don't have enough light . It's only 60 bucks and comes in handy. Here's the link amzn.to/3KI9GNK

Hi chris I used this primer and I let it dry over a week cause the wheather didnt permit when ivwas sanding it it was a nightmare it didnt dry i spent hours sanding it was clogging all my sand paper what else you used beside reducer to make it dry faster do u have any dryin issues or clogging the paper ? Whats a better primer option that will sand smooth easily ? Thanks again
@GarageNoise

What primer were you using?
@GarageNoise

You probably were using a 1k primer. If so get rid of it and use a 2k which is catalyzed so you won't have that issue.

How that clear coat is different from the standard Upol you normally use? How big of a job would be to decide which one?
@GarageNoise
Жыл бұрын
It depends, I use the spot panel upol for most jobs because it dries a bit quicker. If your doing a full paint use the overall upol clearcoat it stays wet longer .

Chris is it possible to spray upol 2253 as a high build primer with the R500 or is that asking too much from the 1.7 tip? If so any settings would be appreciated.
@GarageNoise
Жыл бұрын
1.7 would spray upol high build no problem. If you get alot of texture or orange peel it might be a little big so switch to the 1.5 if you have it. If you don't it's not a big deal the 1.7 will work. As far as the settings I would adjust you fan the width you like it and start with the fluid at 3 turns out from closed. The air pressure at about 15 to 18 psi. Appreciate the comment and support!

Getting ready to do sealer and the biggest panel how long can I let that sealer go before I put the base on I got some other things I got to do can I go 36 hours? I turn down the heat in the garage a few hours after spraying.
@GarageNoise
Жыл бұрын
@@davidgentz1731 check your TDS (technical data sheet) for the product your using. 36hrs may be to long to wait. Typically tje longest you should wait is 24 hrs. After that you need to scuff it up again before basecoat. I like to stay within a 4 hour window.
