WOW!!! This painting is magically realistic and lifelike! Those final touches, with the oils, really put the life into it; especially with the details in the ram. I've really enjoyed the series of tutorials, for this painting, and really respect and appreciate you for breaking it down into these detailed lessons. It really does help being able to see the details of, not only the painting, but the processes of getting the painting going and being put together. Thanks Much!!! Beautiful work, as always!!!

I love your work and enjoy your relaxed style of teaching...it's like you're a friend at my home. For tracing your cut out you could use chalk...partway on and partway off the edges. Then when you're finished leftover marks clean off with a damp cloth or Qtip etc.

This series of instruction is so valuable! Thank you for helping us and giving guided insight into your process on how to create such a masterpiece. I do have a question. When I draw an element to add to my painting, I first sketch it, then I trace over it with carbon paper directly on my canvas and paint it in. Is there any reason artistically speaking why I shouldn't do this? Thank you again for this detailed instruction. This is beautiful💝💝💝xxx

Really stunning piece! I imagine that you varnish your paintings when they are done to even out the sheen between the oils and acrylics, how long do you usually wait or do you do it right away? It seems like everyone has a different opinion on the topic and I was curious to know what yours was. Thanks for sharing!
@chuckblackart
6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Peyton! So no I actually do not varnish. I do however oil out with my alkyd medium at the end to even out the sheen. Alkyd as actually very tough and flexible which provides a good finish layer. Varnishing is not a necessity which is why many have different opinions. I sell my work too quickly to be able to wait to varnish is which is why I do what I do. I've been doing this for years and my paintings hold up very well and true to color. I think experimenting is good and just finding out what works best for yourself. Hope that helps! You are welcome!

I love your work.!!! What kind of miniature brushes do you use? the brush you used for drawing the animal was fntastically thin, even, sharp, etc... Of course I realize a lot of the magic comes from the skilled hand of the artist. But, that brush felt so steady. Thank you.

Why not tape your drawing to the painting as you did, then slip some white transfer paper underneath? Or cover the back with white chalk, so you can trace all if your drawing quickly and easily... ?

I've gotten sick of transfer papers smudging from my wrist or Palm which is why I don't use that method anymore. But the chalk ideas a good idea also. Thanks for sharing!
