To everyone arguing let me clear this up. Yes you want two coats when going over a darker color people aren’t saying he could do only one they are saying dry rolling like he is doing will result in the color still being slightly visible in many spots after the second coat You want full coats just heavy enough so it doesn’t droop/sag you want that nice orange peel texture and the right mil thickness so the self leveling properties of the paint will reduce the orange peel Look. Dry rolling will cause the paint to dry faster and the texture will be more pronounced, the paint won’t cover as well and you’ll need a third coat going over a darker color. Don’t dry roll and make sure your roller stays wet and you keep the edges of your work area wet so that you don’t roll over acrylic paint that’s started to dry because then you’ll be making a mess. Even in the case this is just a primer coat you still want to lay it on right so that it’s as level and smooth as possible for the next finishing coats.
