I do not know why people gave you a thumbs down. You did an excellent job of explaining the process. Thank you for taking the time

What's the reason for the caulk along the tape edge? Thanks for the video!

It's caulking that dries clear but is paintable. It seals the edge to prevent any bleed through that might occur ensuring a perfectly straight line.

Although tape is supposed to seal alone, it never quite works 100 % of the time, especially on textured walls like the one I'm painting here!

Yes good video. Funny part was I was most interested in the removal of the tape and how long you left it on there as looked like a decent amount of paint was on it but wasn't sure. Was interested in any tearing from the paint bond when removing the tape but that was the one part missing.

Whats the reason for the primer? Thanks for the video!

To seal the spots you spackled, or spots like ink stains etc., otherwise it will come through (flashing) and leave an inconsistent coat. Also, in the case of stubborn mold and mildew, primer with anti fungicidal properties can actually eliminate them while still covering and preparing the surface for a finish coat!

I am having trouble with when I paint, after the paint has dried, it looks rough in certain areas, almost like its been sanded. I've tried changing the primer from oil based primer to water based and then when I paint, it stills looks like it has been sanded. Do you have any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong?

Not exactly sure what you mean by it looking sanded.

@@MMPRECISIONPAINTING I think he means that it looks blotchy in some places, if the wall is not completely smooth that may be the problem, because of the high and low spots and the light refracting off of it
