This is a fascinating concept. Moment using it, at least from searching track weathering videos.

This looks really nice! I’m planning on in the future to make a NS B-line double deck in HO scale for a 18x20 space and this tip will make it look authentic

A little constructive criticism-Put your camera on the opposite side from where your hands will be working !

Nice video Josh! I’ve been wanting someone to make a tutorial on this. I’m definitely gonna use this technique when I get my layout into a more permanent state.

Josh, that's a very good method you used for painting the rails and ties! Depending on how large an area or how large your layout, could be a lot of time put into that. Still, I like the method and the video. Thanks for sharing Muse

Great end result! As an instruction video however you might want to adjust the camera in a way so that your hands don't cover the lens and hide all your actions. :)

This was absolutely awesome! Thanks for the How-To! :D If I may, I'd like to inquire about the description in regards to the realistic trees; Does that include a Willow Tree?

Great results, but my layout will have over 150' of track. Based on your ~ 5 minute time to do one track, that would result in me spending over 12.5 hours to do this. I'm 73 and with all the other things I need to do to lay the track, road bed, wiring, etc., I might be dead before I could finish this.

Camera on the other side so we don't see the back of your hand might work out a little better. Just an observation. Thanks for the video

Josh....man seems like a lot work....time consuming....woudn't it be easier to air brushing it....i'm just saying.....
@nsmodeler24
5 жыл бұрын
Air brushing would definitely be quicker, but it does not allow you to differentiate colors (between the rails and ties) as easily, nor does it allow you to have the multiple layers of colors on the ties. Nothing is wrong with airbrushing, and we had done it on much of our track, but this is just a more detailed way to go about it! :)

Problem with an airbrush is if your brush is an open cup you're going to have paint spillage unless you have some kind of lid on it; the other is dealing with overspray
