36 years with eye problems and dyscalculia, trying to invent, to imagine something that my brain doesn't recognize like depths, crying in front of my not-straight-lines, AAAALL THAT SUFFER just to watch George Michael stealing backgrounds and adding just filters and "contact shadows"... I don't even know who I am 😂😂😂😂 big hug from Argentina!
@2Lowfy
Жыл бұрын
Question, how did you deal with dyscalculia? I've been struggling with it for years and I've never exactly got told how to live with it so I'm really unsure of what to do.
@natirubi524
Жыл бұрын
@@2Lowfy well... first, I think that I acepted that I can't understand numbers. But just a few times I can really do simple things! So my learning process is not lineal, for me, dealing with it is not like going through a stairway: it's more like being walking inside a laberynth. Plus, school system was not prepared to teach people with this kind of cognition so, for example, I felt very lonely and guilty for not to give my all on maths... But then I grew up and I understood that is perfectly natural being good at some stuff and being bat at other things... I think I'm good on painting (at least, I enjoy arts). You are not supose to be a 100 pts on eeeeeverything. In fact we can fail, we can scratch our face on the ground just to get up again and develope creativity to solve some questions... but we don't need to know all the answers, who could resist such a responsability? In my case, With less Rocks on my bag, allowing me to "not understand everything" I just started to draw some perspective drawings, it's been a couple of years without doing that kind of works, and it feels good! Not incredibly pleasant but hey! It's drawing! I'm thanked that I can draw a hall or a library! It's not %100 exactly but who cares? Enjoy the way without being focused on the final. Oh! One more thing: when you go looking for a job, may be the best for you those kind of jobs wich doesn't need to manipulate big amounts of numbers. But if you don't find exactly that kind of job, it is also good to tell the employer about your kind of relationship with logical hypothetical deductive process and numbers. It's needed to be clear that you are not having bad intentions on writing a number for another one. Your employer trust on you is the most important item because that person will be, in the best case, who support you and understands on your journey. I recommend you a movie from Amir Khan, it name is something like Taare Zamen Par. It's about a boy who has this particularity.

I have dyslexia AND severe dyscalculia and I never knew my inability to understand perspective had anything to do with my problems with depth and perspective. I'm glad I watched this video, because Ethan has a way of beingmotivating and encouraging while being brutal and abrasive. But I'm just as appreciative of your comment so that I learned something more of my disability and not only am I not alone but I'm not the only artist that struggles with this. Thank you so much for sharing. ❤️
@natirubi524

@@DahomeyMino Hey I have dyslexia too!!! You know, I think that may the people who "thinks different" finds different ways to solve problems... we use to suffer not answering challenges like others and that angust stops ourselves from creating, and we must know that make the ilusion of dephts on a 1D paper it's a big deal!!! So how would we swim into that illusion? That's the point. For example I love colors. I think about light and how atmosphere changes the colors of the things, the grass, the houses, skin, the mountains, etc.. so, when something is far away from us, it turns blue. "Ok: far away=blue".... also, when something is far away, is smaller. "Ok: far away= blue and small" hahaha... and I didn't think about numbers, I just think something about values and if I could or not see details.... it's hard to compose with eye problems but we must know that in fact there's a way, we different way to solve. And it's time about to get that insight, singularity of creativity. And enjoying the ride!
@DahomeyMino

@@natirubi524 Thanks that really helpful. It's been so hard all these years, I just focused on designing things in a one point perspective if at all. It was hammered into me for years by various art teachers to do it "this and that" way that I didn't even think about just think things look when they are far way or close. You're right, we have to come up with our own ways of drawing because of our short comings.
