Can you get such realism with acrylics? If so is this through adding something to the paint?
@PaintBasket
Жыл бұрын
You can absolutely do the same in acrylic. If you want more blending time just add some retarded to the acrylic :)

I either use Liquin Fine detail or the Archival Oil medium which is also thin and no they hardly have any odour at all.

Hi what is your recipe for the dark grey please. You start with 4 parts ultramarine, 2 red, 1 yellow? I replayed many times but doesn’t look like your black. Thanks
@PaintBasket
Жыл бұрын
The 4:2:1 ratio is just a starting point / ball park ratio. Each brand of paint is different so you may find your eg. red is stronger than normal so need to tone it down to get a neutral grey. Just play around with the ratio of the three different colours. For the dark you will have mostly blue, less red then even less yellow. Each sky is also different so your cloud colours may need to be biased towards a different colour than mine depending on the time of the day. So look to see if the cloud colour you are trying to mix is more blue, red or yellow compared to your paint mixture then add that missing colour. If all else fails you can also use Paynes grey which should get you started. You can then adjust for colour bias from there. Good luck with your clouds. Let me know how it went.
