With your inspiration in my back pocket I headed out to the local thrift shop. I found the best mug ever for this technique, in my opinion. Coincidentally it has a half inch wide band of glaze around the outside at the rim which also coats the inside. So I snagged it and set to work. I created my mandala mug a few years ago following your pattern and it is a good as new. I recommend giving it a try. Currently I’m working on a rather large mandala canvas. Thanks for your fabulous tutorial.

I am SO grateful to have found this particular tutorial (love all of yours!) I have been dotting on plates, mugs and small dipping bowls and baking them but some of the paints bubble (always the metallic) and I was wondering why. I typically use pouring medium which now I know is not appropriate. And I've used both Deco Art and Folk Art but I think most of them are acrylic paints and not multi-purpose. Do the regular acrylic paints not work, even if a pouring medium is not used?

We've tried every technique and every machine, and we all prefer the pour-over technique shown in the video. It is the least expensive, and we always grind the beans one up at a time for the freshest flavor. We buy large bags of whole beans from Costco. ;)

I will definitely try this route. Do you take your coffee with cream and sugar or black? I like Italian sweet cream most of the time but if it's a really delicious cup of joe, I'll take it black. As always, love your videos, and thanks for replying to my question. Also, is there any kind of coffee you prefer, or just the Costco brand? Happy dotting! I'm getting addicted to this art, too.

Hi Kristin! Love your videos! Some day I want to copy everything you have done in the tutorials on 3 inch wooden disks. I have a challenge for you today. You have been going wonderfully dotty for a while now- have you ever considered adding teardrop shapes to your mandalas? I was looking at a photo of the exterior of the Chartres cathedral rose window, and thinking that those tear drop shapes which point inwards might be a good design for some future mandala video. What do you think?

Hello! Can one still use regular acrylic for this purpose? I’ve done a few mugs and cured them in the oven and then washed them with soap - I tried to rub the painting a bit to see what would happen and the paint started to come off. Was it because the acrylics were not the multi purpose ones? Or should one always be careful when washing these hand painted mugs? Any advice will be very appreciated 😊 thanks, Rita

@@Mary-357 Let your piece dry for 1 hour to be sure all layers of paint have dried. Place piece in a cool oven. Set oven temperature to 350 degrees F and bake project for 30 minutes. Glass must heat gradually with the oven to avoid breakage.
