You don't ever need to apologise for "making" anyone feel jealous. You don't create jealousy, do you? The way I see it, there's always someone better and we get inspiration from those who are better. I'm 68 and been drawing and painting most of my life and I probably don't have enough time left to reach your standard. But that's a good thing. It means I can always be better today than I was yesterday and I can always learn new ways. It would be a shame to waste that opportunity on fealing jealous, wouldn't it? Love your work and your videos are both informative and inspiring. Thank you for sharing it.

Joe I am new to airbrushing. I work mainly with wood and want to embellish my work....I am jealous, but that's ok. I though this was great. I have watched it 3 times. The camera and video work was excellent. It drives me crazy to see nothing but fast forward speed. You did a nice job of using both and at the right time. Sam

I always thin it. When I use automotive paint I've thinned it with Xylene. It's important not to use a super fast drying thinner. But this video is all just universal tints mixed with water. More convenient for spraying in my house. Thank you so much.

this is the best tutorial! I was watching the fire the other day, trying to capture its nature, because I want to paint a phoenix. I've noticed that fire is actually transparent. Many painters paint it like it's a solid substance, but it's not. also, layers let the painting retain its brilliance (no need to mix any white!). Thank you!
@Yzjoshuwave

As soon as you said it, the penis hilariously jumped out. Now I've got to admit that the metaphor kind of inspires me. Putting the penis in the fire could either be a reflection of great fertility, or it could be that a woman embodies the fire that the penis is being put in. Either way, it's cool, lol.

Thanks you very much. I used Cal-tints. It's not paint, just colorant. It made for very easy water clean up. I put a cheap aerosol clear coat over it and that bonded everything together real well. I would never use this method on a real job.
@muraljoe
12 жыл бұрын
If you mean using a normal artist brush instead of an airbrush, then the answer is also yes. I would just use thinner to make the oils transparent and faster drying and then do the same layering process.

Great work. Just wondering Joe. How is your ventilation system there Bro? Just getting interested in airbrushing and wondering why you are not wearing a mask doing all this spraying. Chemicals = Cancer. Protect yourself if not for your sake then do it for your families. Freedom of choice of course.
@TheScaryName
10 жыл бұрын
Most airbrush paint is water based, no chemicals. It just gets a bit dusty... There are solvent based paints as well, which work really well for true flames (the candy ones such as red/orange/gold/yellow) but they're smelly and it's way harder to clean your equipment after.
@muraljoe
10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I would have been better off to where a mask on this but Joakim is right about this one being water based. It's actually not even paint on this job. It's only tint. It's just what I had lying around. I'm really no expert on paint products. I'm just an artist.

I can tell you that the button on my Iwata airbrush sticks down a lot. Maybe there are other models that are better about that. You need a slow drying reducer for automotive paints. I've had good results using xylene but maybe you could ask someone in an auto paint shop for advice on that. You may want a side feed airbrush so that you can rotate the cup. You can't point the brush up at a ceiling without dumping the paint with a standard gravity feed but I still like gravity feed the best.
@muraljoe

yeah, you can do the exact same steps. Just note that the overspray will be more obnoxious and you would want to be carefule about stuff around you. Thanks for the post.

I have no clue what I am doing but hope to pick up some tips from what youtube has to offer. I noticed that before you started spraying the colour I could see flames, Awesome as other vids I have been watching show no flame structure from the start and they tend to use templates. Thanks and great video :)

If I screwed up and thinned my acrylic with water too much so now I get a very light red, will clear help (I use the ployurethane out of habit and working qualities)?
