Certainly one of the clearest and most logically presented guides to one of the Waffen SS camo schemes.Makes a refreshing change to those somewhat verbose presenters mis-pronouncing all the German words!

Gutes Video, sehr hilfreich;) Welche Faraben würdest du für eine Sommertarnung benutzen? Ich hab auch die Revell Kunstharzfarbe
@Gott0300
10 жыл бұрын
Danke. Einfach mal googeln. Viel Spaß beim Modellbau. ;)

Please keep in mind that the orange brown that I have used looks quite colourful, what makes the uniform look brand new and not weathered at all. When you look at pictures of WW2-soldiers who had worn the stuff for some time, the camo pattern looks a bit different and faded by the elements. You might wanna try and mix a touch of white to the colours to brighten them up or give them a washing of the highly diluted basic colour as a last step. Feel free to experiment. :)
@Gott0300

@kampfgruppe13 For the spring pattern I use the exact same colours, maybe the chocolate brown basic colour should be a slightly darker shade than it is in this video. Use the black and brown just as discribed, but in the final step substitute the orange brown for a light green. I use either Revell SM360, a light fern green, but semi glossy, so it's important to not forget the flat finish, or Vallejo's 70833, German camo bright green, both can be mixed with white to get lighter.

Make sure that both of your your hands are resting on the table so you can keep them steady. If they start to shake or you are getting a headache you are probably focussing too much and it's time to pause. Make sure the working place is well lit and ventilated. If you like, listen to some favourite, relaxing music or something like that. I like to keep a DVD running and listen to audio commentaries, because it is really calming me down and helps me to relax.

@lodhol For the uniforms I use acrylic or enamel paints. It's just the skin tones and the shadings that I use oil colours for. But that's just one way of doing it. There are people who can paint an amazingly real looking face with acrylic paint; it depends on the technique you use and how skilled you are..

That`s pretty good may I say !! The only thing to add would be to fill in some of the Orange mass in the centers and give the whole lot a very thin wash of beige to tie the uniform together as the Orange pops out a bit too much,..but that`s seen through my eyes only and my personal taste and opinion but as I say a a really very good SBS Thanks :)

@Gott0300 thanks for the tips, my colours dried with slightly less contrast so by chance the figures look ok. They are crew of a flak panzer. its tho first model I've made in 25 years so some techniques like weathering with washes are new to me. will experiment as i go. thanks again.

@Godking88 It's really all about practice! When I started, my first attempts looked awful. And I'm still not as good as I'd like to be.. But you'll get better each time, I promise. Take a cheap, badly produced figure that can serve as a practice object and start painting it. Use a good, fine pointed brush and clean it often, so the paint doesn't get hard and stiffens the hairs. Don't haste, you've got all the time in the world. And if not: don't even begin! That's all I can say.. :)
@Gott0300

@Falke40lg Thanks. The figure in the video was painted just for demonstrating purposes and with enamel colours only. It was done very quickly in approximately 1 hour. When I paint a complete figure it takes way more time. Sometimes 3 or 4 days or even longer. That is because I use oil colours for the flesh tones and certain details and they need a very long time to dry.

@wightlion Thanks, mate. You're right, the way I painted it the jacket looks brand new, like the picture in the beginning. If you'd like to give it a worn out and bleached look you'll have to mix and lighten up the orange to achieve that. But feel free to experiment; after some time being exposed to sunlight and weather there weren't two jackets that looked the same.. :)

Thank you for the the tip with the Vallejo colours. I almost exclusively use Revell colours, because my hobby shop doesn't have Vallejo in the product range. The orange ochre probably looks better than the orange from Revell, which is a little too colourful.. ;)
