@Vyerel In those situations I remove the tab and drill and glue a pin into the foot/feet of the model and then drill holes into the paint pot and secure it with a tiny drop of glue. I did this towards the end of the painting Cassandra video.

Nice work, you were doing contrast painting long before GW came up with that system.

@ravagevii I use both. Paper towels are easier to use for the videos.

Thanks! I'm going to be getting scourges for my dark eldar soon and this should be useful for the fleshy wingy bits.

@Vyerel I use a hot glue gun. Then I use a dull knife to easily pry them off when finished.

@Vyerel It shouldn't. Just makes it easier to cut and drill.

@MrThedaan The skin is painted just as in my painting flesh vid, except I used Vallejo Brown Sand in place of the Flesh Base color. Also in order to speed up the painting I drybrushed it all except for the last few highlight layers.

lol, faust... I remember a decade ago or so, I used to visit your old site (around the release of the 3rd edition of 40k) and I was an avid reader on your howtos and tips, one of them that stuck to me was using an old shirt instead of a paper towels for wiping your brush, haha it was funny to see you using a towel... excellent video :) (not a rant just thought it was funny)

@Vyerel I've tried blu tack and didn't like it. It doesn't hold as well as hot glue and can sometimes flex and move the mini which annoyed me when painting. Hot glue is easy to remove with a retractable, large hobby knife. On rare occasion it won't come off easily, but I just have to slightly heat the blade under a desk lamp and it slices thru the hot glue like butter.

Cool. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Though I don't do miniatures, this could be used for many different things.

I love the realistic effect on an otherwise fantastic figure. I'm not a fan of cartoony, bright colors, and this really hits the spot with me.

I love the quick replies, very awesome. Maybe you have a suggestion on how I can go about this, I am making a scenic base for the model but wanted to paint it before glue it on to the base since I have to let the green stuff cure on the base itself and paint that as well. Would you suggest gluing the model to a junk base and hot glue the base down and remove the model some how, if you could help out with that too that be helpful, once the model has been fully painted that is.

I suppose it can, but since they are bigger and tend to be more detailed I'd use a more traditional technique.

I believe I see people using blu tack but I am not too sure is the hot glue a preference between other options and also its it the easiest to remove?

How do you have the model on top of the paint bottle and how easy would it be to remove it from there

From what I've noticed, he does tend to use mostly Vallejo so I'd guess its a safe bet that's what he's referring to.
