Thanks for the video. I have watched this several times. Unfortunately I had to take the exam twice. First time the examiner was an absolute triggered tool (after he was yelled at by a random customer in a parking lot). He fabricated every fault on the test. Failed me for making an unsafe left turn (where I didn't impede any traffic). Said I failed to shoulder check when changing from position 1 to 3 or 3 to 1 ( I know I made all those checks and had tape on the back of my helmet). Said I should of been in lane position 3 when going up a hill. (Fair enough, but the impending intersection was not obscured). Said that I was too close to a barricade. ( I was just in lane position 1). Said that I revved the engine too loudly. ( I don't even know what to say about this. Trying not to stall my bike.) For reference I've been driving a car for 35 years and a dirt bike for ~45 years. Never been in an accident and have no demerits on my license. I passed the 2nd test with a different examiner two weeks later without issue. Night and day difference in the experience. I had taken professional lessons, and I can honestly say that the Examiner is the biggest variable whether or not you pass.

@@KSMotoCafe Yeah, I'm sure he was triggered after getting yelled at. Took it out on me. After I challenged him on it.. .he defended his position and lectured me on motorcycle safety. Then he called me a "Typical Hobby rider". Asshat didn't know that I am also a license health provider who also treats injured motorcyclists. I had no recourse and from what I understand as nobody has ever successfully overturned a failed drivers test. They don't allow recording of the test which is a real shame. I had no way to prove that he lied.

@KSMotoCafe

It is different from province to province but mostly, it goes like this: Written Motorcycle test - gets to learners license that gets you to ride a motorcycle with a ton of restrictions (must ride with supervisor, cant ride at night, no passengers, and can't go above 60km/hr) Skills test (covered under MSF course):basic parking lot drills with cones to do figure eights, weaving, etc (if you pass, you no longer need a supervisor and can go over 60km/hr) Road test: test that takes you through residential, school, playground, and highway zones (pass and all restrictions lifted). For people with no regular driver's license, there is a wait period of 1 year before eligible to take the road test. If you already have a full driver's license, you can challenge the road test 1 month after you pass the skills test. But those timelines and levels of license is specific to British Columbia province. Some provinces skip the skills test and just go from knowledge test to road test.

@KSMotoCafe

I don't really know your background so I couldn't say whether you need to take courses to know the rules but all the study material is available openly on ICBC website. You may be good with a bike but if you are unfamiliar with BC riding rules, taking the course might ease your transition or you just need to study the books to understand the rules. The course is most beneficial for new riders with little experience in riding and to get a discount from insurance later on.

You are welcome! If you already have a bike, I don't see why you would want to rent/borrow another bike. Legally, yes you can rent a bike or borrow a bike as long as it is insured properly but no need to do that if you already have one. You got till May to build up confidence on the Shadow, and I suggest putting lots of km and hrs into the bike so you are very comfortable on it. And then two weeks before the test, shake off the bad habits and start zoning into exam quality shoulder checks, scans, and stops.

Hey, my question may sound silly, how to drive to a motorcycle test without a license what happens if cop pulls over when I drive to a test without a license. Is there some kind off learner license?
@KSMotoCafe
2 жыл бұрын
so the way it works here is you first obtain a learner's license from a computer multiple choice test, which allows you to operate a motorcycle under supervision of a fully licensed motorcyclist. Then you go for the safety test (going around cones and stop/go drills), which lifts some of the restrictions and allows you to ride alone but cant ride at night or have a passenger. So by the time you go for this class 6 test, you won't need a supervisor

Always have the most nerves when doing an ICBC roadtest.. the one thing that prevents me from getting a Bike license is literally this precise road test.. living in Surrey, you always get the shittiest instructors.. Langley is a bit better but still quite a few pricks... I wanna build a bobber but I know they don’t follow what ICBC wants in terms of bike equipment, but I know you gotta pass the test and get it insured with all the proper equipment on your bike.. headaches lol... had the worst time getting my class 7 back in highschool.. got failed for not putting a handbrake on, in an auto car, while it was in park and turned off (fair enough its my first time doing a road test) but the 2nd time I failed, I was told to reverse backwards, I came up to someones garbage can, and stopped. He says, why did you stop? I said I didn’t want to hit the garbage can (thought he was testing me on my awareness of objects around me) he just says “could’ve gone around it” and gave me a demerit on his paper,and I said but you didn’t ask me to go around it, so I didn’t know thats what you expected..3rd time I got failed for not turning my wheels into the curb in the event that the parking brake fails.. after that I despised the instructors for failing me on such minor things, causing me to have to walk in at 4-5am for a cancellation because their dates are always booked to the max, making my mom miss work or waste a day off, sometimes we’d wait until 2 Pm and I wouldn’t even get a chance.. when I would get a cancellation, I was sweating bullets and absolutely beyond nervous because I didn’t want to fail over something so small and dumb again.. completely jacked up my view on ICBC road tests, especially since you have to pay an absurd amount every time you take it.. the day I passed, I parked the car, the instructor and I walked in, I got my N and paid the dues, and walked directly to the passenger seat cause I was absolutely done with being in that front seat.. knowing I had my N was the biggest relief ever because I got it the day before my L expired, and a day before my Birthday. I truly hope icbc gets the boot sometime soon.. not looking forward to doing any roadtest with them.. wish you could do the whole entire thing through an actual motorcycle school.

That would be a good question to ask the examiner on the day but I would assume that it will just be a point deduction if anything. @@erayhackz8516 Buying a private used bike can be tricky but depending on what type of mode you are looking for, I suggest first searching kn google that model of the bike + known issues to look out for. There are a lot of variables in buying a bike and research is king. Another good source is Lower Island Riding Club on facebook where there are many experienced riders who can give you some great advice and steer you in the right direction!
