Holy wow. I got daring enough to try a "real" pineapple for once after seeing this, and man, the difference to the canned stuff I'd been so used to nearly brought a grown man to tears Never going back to that.

So all you have to do is cut deeper to remove the eyes? I would end up just a small pineapple then.

this was very helpful. I live on Maui and taught myself how to peel them, but enjoyed your technique because you were very thorough and I had never heard of anyone else telling about boiling down the excess to make a syrup or juice. That was great! Mahalo! Mauigreek.

Every fruit when eaten raw, even the sour tasting ones, have an alkaline effect in your body, but when you cook them, they will go acidic and that is definitely not good. Tinned fruit I would not recommend, as they have to be cooked as are the boiled juices. I worked with a German nutritionist for years and he specialised in the effect of food on the human body. Fruit should be eaten on an empty stomach as they are not absorbed there but in the small intestine. Pure juices take about 10 minutes to pass to the intestine, the other usual ones take about 20 minutes and the starchy richer ones like bananas or avocados take about 30 minutes so make sure you eat them in that order as the ones that stay in the stomach stuck behind the longer staying ones, soon start decomposing in the wrong place, thus not only having you lose the nutrients but sometimes even causing indigestion. Never mix the starchy ones in a fruit salad or juice as they don;t agree well with each other
