Hi everyone! Let me know if you have any questions in the comments below! (Note - I will not be able to comment on specific computer setups and their compatibility with specific programs just because it's way too much information for me to sift though for each setup)

thanks for the content, i have some question, which one is the better setup for rendering interior design? i5 10th gen with rtx 3060 or i7 10th gen with rtx 2060 6GB? not super version or ti version for the GPU, I'm tight on budget, so I'm wondering whether making a sacrifice in lowering the CPU and upgrading the GPU from 2660 to 3660 would make rendering better? or should i stick with i7 and rtx 2660? mainly use vray for rendering, but are going to use enscape and lumion 10 as well your advise will be highly appreciated, thanks

@@Thesketchupessentials Vray currently. Most of our day to day drawings don't get renders, but when they do not all of our computers can handle it. We're looking to upgrade and switch over to laptops at the same time, so this video had perfect timing to confirm we were on the right track with the machines we were looking at.

My issue with these RTX A cards is Lumion requires you to have a card over the 22K passmark, and the RTX A series only reach that point from A5500 upwards, which costs a small fortune. Will the lower end cards actually do the job or will it lag a bit or not give the performance you actually need.

Justin - Again, thanks so much for this very helpful video. Really liking the MSI WS66 you highlighted, but I currently use a 17" laptop, and I'm not sure I could adjust to the smaller screen. Does MSI WS66 have a comparable 17" build? I need limited portability....pretty much just the flexibility to work at home and at work......not worried about traveling with it, or using it at the coffee shop, etc., so a heavier and thicker chassis is ok with me. I guess another option would be to go with the 15.6" and connect to a desktop monitor, I imagine that wouldn't compromise the graphics display, and would allow to view work on a larger screen. Lastly, if I end up purchasing a WSI, anything I need to tell the vendor for you to get credit for the referral?

Hi Justin, I have a great new desktop PC (i7-11700, 2.5GHz, 32 GB, 3200MHz, NVIDIA Quatro RTX 300) but I still get a spinning blue wheel every two minutes. I've had a look at the Task Manager and SketchUp is running at 2.5% CPU max - do you think this could be an issue and how can I improve it? Thanks.

If you turn off autosave option in Sketchup it might help, however, it is risky when sketchup crushed without manually saving it.

Are you really using the GTX 1080 Ti? I am trying to run a 10 Sec. Clip Export from Twinmotion with Path Tracer enabled. Estimation is that it takes 25 hours. Crazy
@Thesketchupessentials
2 жыл бұрын
Well depending on your frame rate, complexity of your model, etc, this isn't super unrealistic I suppose. At 60 FPS, that would be 600 frames, meaning you're averaging 2.5 minutes/frame. At 24 FPS, that would be 240 frames, meaning 6.25 minutes/frame - maybe a bit slow, but really depends on how complex what you're doing is. It's really just a question of the frame math

Because 3D modeling needs the high clock of a single-core CPU, while rendering needs a many-core CPU or a good GPU to render. So, isn’t it a good idea if we build PC in these two ways: 1/ Use CPU for both 3d modeling and rendering: Exp: + The best CPU ( i9: Have many cores, and can reach to 5.3Ghz in the Turbo-Boost ( single core mode) + vga onboard) + don’t buy GPU. 2/ Use a single core CPU for 3d modeling + a good GPU for rendering: Exp: + a Pentium G6600 - 4.2Ghz ( 2 core) for 3d modeling. + a RTX3090 for rendering. ??? Do I misunderstand anywhere? Because I don’t really see anyone build PC look like that.

Well because (A) I don't cover Blender on this channel and (B) Blender's system requirements initially aren't super high, unless you start doing lots of rendering, video, fluid simulations, etc. Even then, the requirements vary wildly

How serious is the Windows 11 problem with Sketchup? Or is it that it's just "not tested" yet? if you don't let Windows 10 up-date when *it* wants to you can have problems. Customized tower PCs are a problem where I live. I just had to take what Best Buys had on the floor as my PC died and I use it daily in my Architecture practice. It was a compromise as it was the only one suitable they had in-stock with a CD-R drive to access my Archives and Libraries. I couldn't afford the several weeks wait for a semi-custom machine that they would cover with a service contract.
