I cannot thank you enough for this video. You have done such a wonderful job explaining the logistics. Was looking forward to getting started on this in January and you have answered a lot of questions. Thank you again. I love watching your hikes. Ever in Indiana we have a 140 mile Visionary trail. Would love to hike it with you and your friends.

You’re very welcome! I’m so glad it was helpful. I know I was confused about the logistics about this time last year haha. Never heard of the visionary trail but will have to look into it!

Thank you so much for the information! After completing a southbound flip/flop Tuolumne Meadows to Whitney, then Tuolumne Meadows to Yosemite in 2019 I'm taking friend along this year. Thank you so much for the the permitting and resupply suggestions. In 2019 I sent a barrel to JMR. Shocked to see their charging $90 to hold resupplies now and no longer have their Hiker Boxes. Their Hiker Box was wonderful. Found replacement photo cells for my water treatment cell. They were wonderful in being helpful to fellow hikers. Did a zero day with the snow that hit overnight. The hot springs there are worth it. I skipped VVR last time. Will need to check them out this time. Hopefully you got to do Half Dome when you entered Yosemite.

Oh wow that’s interesting you had such a different experience in 2019 than I heard from other hikers! But yeah I just did not hear good things. VVR was incredible and so welcoming though - I absolutely loved that place.

On the CT this summer I met so many JMT hikers and they unanimously said that the Sierras are more majestic. I'd love to hike out there but honestly the permits, bear cans, etc kinda kill my motivation. I absolutely loved how straightforward everything was on the CT, I'm probably just going to go back this summer 😅

Personally I liked the CT so much more than the JMT. 🤷♀️

@@AudreyAdventures would you hike it again? I think about going back every day. Hoping to reconnect with my trail family this coming summer and hike from Lake City to Durango together

@@CastawayHikes I would absolutely hike the CT again and probably will at some point. I would not hike the JMT again unless I was doing it as part of the PCT.

Same! All the permits and logistics make me not want to do it. Back to the CT for me.

Good video. Very detailed. Oat meal packets are a light way to give yourself extra filling food. I was listening to an old song earlier(Riding the Storm Out, REO Speedwagon 1976 Live) and it begged the question. Do you enjoy watching snow storms from your apartment? I fire up the woodstove and watch from the comfort of my recliner. We're behind on wood so I'm hoping that we are spared for another month. Good Luck, Rick

Thank you! I’ll definitely throw some extra oatmeal packets in sometimes for a little extra as well. It’s not very exciting watching snowstorms from my apartment haha but I love watching them from my parents’ house! Unfortunately it’s wet and dreary here now - no snow in sight!

Maybe no beautiful background, but certainly a beautiful foreground. Thanks for your excellent videos. I'm in a spot right now where I don't have the luxury to backpack and getting to vicariously take these amazing trips with such amazing scenery is a real treat. You do a fantastic job showing off the trail and the realistic things people encounter. As a Californian I've always wanted to do Mt. Whitney, but after getting to hike along over KZitem it looks like Mt. Rainier would be a much better use of the time. Thanks again!

This comment warmed my heart. Thank you so much, Peter! 😊 Rainier is probably much more challenging but you can’t beat the scenery in that area - just stunning! 💚

What a mess with the permits. Discourages me 80% to even try. I should have hiked it when I lived there those 35 years. 😂

It’s not bad at all if you get the first-come, first-serve permits starting in the Inyo National Forest, you just have to really be on it. I got my first-choice date for myself and three friends! It just took a little dedication haha
