Another wonderful video! My small woodland garden is slowly taking over. I’m finding it much easier to care for than the flower beds. It’s cooler, has fewer weeds and more wildlife. Thank you!

How lovely - yes, you're right - I didn't see too many weeds in the Woodland garden - I think perhaps not quite light enough for some of them.

Really, really enjoyed this woodland idyll. We are fortunate enough to have a patch of oaks, rhododendrons, and azaleas as common ground in our neighborhood. To that we’ve added a lot of hosta. I think its mostly a dry shade area with strong sun ☀️ at the margins of the space. Mulch really helps it be more habitable. The area is large enough for a couple different micro climes.

Eventually we hope the whole area will function as a rain garden and prevent runoff when it storms. Also we’re making it pollinator friendly in the sunny spots. So far the milkweed seedlings are surviving. 🌼

True, I hated the orange flowers of a Berberis darwinii in the sunny front border, but after moving it into the shade of a fence it's fine.

I very much enjoyed this video, Alexandra. It was great to see an established English woodland garden! Among various shrubs of all sizes, I have one rhododendron and one Azalea in my woodland garden. I have been careful to give them loads of water over the summer to encourage flowers. The rhododendron has plenty of nice big buds and healthy leaves. The azalea started flowering in early autun. It is called Azalea Aline and has a lovely white flower. The azalea flowers look beautiful, however the leaves were attacked by Lacebug so I clearly didn't pay enough attention as I thought not much would happen until late winter. I have sprayed the leaves with a homemade soapy solution containing rosemary, lavender and clove oils and that seems to have stopped the bugs, for now. I have one huge semi-deciduous Chinese elm tree that is providing the shade and have been having fun creating a woodland path. It is all very young however and truly a work in progress. :)

I'm planning to make my own woodland garden based on famous children's stories, which is toxic free and child-at-play friendly. This video helped me form a picture in my mind based on what I already know about gardening AND the philosophy behind this - and you deliver that philosophy in the narrative very well. Thanks for taking the time to make this! Honestly, I watched it twice because the first time I zoned out daydreaming looking at the pretty landscapes!!! Quite inspiring.

I have a question. I have a situation on big deep old woods that have never seen any care. The leafs can be about 18inch deep and nothing growing. I can’t burn. It feels like cardboard when u walk on it. What can I do for things to grow? Thanks
