Thanks for the video, perfect timing, answered a few questions! Disking, seeding and fertilizing this weekend. I applied herbicide 2 weeks ago, 24-D.

North woods whitetail has the best plot screen in the industry. By far. Do yourself a favor and try it. In the north east I have found anything before the end of June is too early. It just gets too tall and will blow over in the wind and snow. I planted last year first week of June and it was15 plus feet tall. I have found 6-7 feet tall should be your goal. Anything taller just increases the possibility of the screen laying over. Also people don’t realize how warm the soil has to be for germination and good growth. Most of the volume happens during dog days of summer. Issues I have noticed in other screening blends are they contain forages that deer actually eat. Huge issue. Defeats the purpose.

We are in the south. After June is too hot and dry here. We are not impacted by snow and it doesn’t fall until late season. And our screen doesn’t have food in it. And taller the better for us.

How do you break up the stalks when getting ready to plant the following year. After I plant mine, the stalks were so big it was hard to get rid of them. Thanks

I usually brush hog several times and then till before planting.

Great Vid. Do yourself a big favor... get a pull behind spreader for Fertilizer. Been there with the hand one. Actually have the same one. LOL

Hey thanks, I actually have one but struggled to keep fertilizer where I want it. Use the bag one for more control. Thanks for watching

During its growing season it will grow rapidly during the summer months. And it will continue to grow even after being cut. However it doesn’t need to be to hot or dry when cutting or it can die. Typically it is planted for its height and screening properties and not for cutting at all. But I’m sure it can be done.

Better off fertilizing before you till to incorporate the nitrogen into the soil, otherwise you risk it dissipating into the air.

Thanks, I’ve tried it. I’ve done it both ways without a noticeable difference. Same result for me anyway.
