Love having some smaller ones to add in filler spots or containers. I got a couple of the fairy trail bride and am thrilled to see them budded up. I’m zone 6 and originally these were only hardy to 5. So glad they are tougher than originally thought.

They were actually hardy to zone 7, so you are doing good if you got buds in zone 6.

Hi Heidi, Thanks for uploading nice videos. I have a question about Firelight Hydrangea. Here, you said it's 4 to 6 feet tall and wide, but in some other places, I heard it grows 6 to 8 feet. So, what is the actual height of the plant? Or if it really grows bigger, can we maintain the height by cutting back every year? How is the growth rate of this plant? Thanks.
@gardencrossings
5 ай бұрын
Mine usually tops out at 6' before i trim them back. This is a very easy plant to maintain, it can be trimmed in the fall or spring. It blooms on the new growth.
@abid531

@@gardencrossings Thanks a lot for the reply. This means i can trim back every year to keep it shorter in height.

Heidi how can I prevent the limelight and my little lime from flopping? Also, when I purchased them 3 years ago, there were hues of pink around fall when I planted them in the ground but since then, I have not seen them turning into pink hues, they just turn brown. Pls if you can answer me, I would appreciate it.

Great video. I live in an area where deer often eat through flower gardeners. Is any of these hydrangea species particularly deer resistant or maybe even deer deterring? Thanks.
@gardencrossings
Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately Hydrangeas are not deer resistant. Oakleaf hydrangeas and climbing hydrangeas maynot be as appealing tp them.

This is so helpful! I’ve had my eyes on Vanilla Strawberry because I adore the cream/light pink color - that’s what I’d like the majority of the time the colors to be, but also pretty red color in fall (not brown). However, I recently came across the Quick Fire Fab that you mention. Do you have any input between these 2 varieties? Thank you 🤗

Hi Heidi! Thank you again for the great video! Can I ask you something? Do you know if those panicle hydrangeas will bloom in part shade in zone 5b? My main garden pattern is English roses mixed with panicle hydrangeas. I have the Quick Fire Fab, Vanilla Strawberry, Strawberry Sundae, and my favorite Bobo all thriving and blooming in full sun, but the front of my house faces East and gets sun only in the morning. I wonder if the panicles will bloom in this kind of setting in my zone 5b. Thank you! 😊

If you are getting at least 6 hours of sun they should bloom fine for you. My neighbor faces east and has the Bobos and they are doing great.

A couple of seasons ago I planted Bobo hydrangeas. I had to move them because I don't think they got enough sun. Is there a small (3-5ft) panicle or hydrangea that would do better in a shadier spot? Bonny zone 5b
