My boyfriend bought me a hand plan for christmas which only arrived 2 sleeps ago. It is beautiful, and i was so keen to get playing. I watched some other youtuber teachers, which taught me some imprtant things but i found them to be more rushed and very overwhelming for my adhd self. Usually the warm up/get prepared parts of any video gets skipped because i am either too eager or cant focus enough. However, the posture and stretching in this video left me feeling incredibly limber and with a quiet mind. I will be putting on meditation music and practicing this each time. The scales and patterens you taught in this video left me feeling aconplished, while making it simple for me to pinpoint exacly what i need to work on. Thanks to you, i will be practicing every day and hopefully i will soon develop my skills enough to invest in your masterclass. Thank you from australia!

I’ve been teaching classical drawing and painting techniques for two decades to thousands of students. Change nothing, you are an inspirational tutor with wonderful teaching skills. This video had clear and concise instruction which was technique based, well structured and easy to follow. In this video you made a connection with your students showing an understanding of what it’s like from their perspective. Good tutors always remember what it was like when they started learning and teach through the eyes of their students. I will certainly signup to your Patreon page.

Thank you for doing this video and covering so much fundamental information! How to stretch and take care of your body---stuff I need to learn and do even outside of playing the handpan! I've had a handpan for a year but never could figure out how to make it sound any good. Other videos I think assume that we know the basics, which I don't. I have a keyboard and wind instrument background so percussion is a whole new world. Look forward to practicing with your videos and making my handpan sing like you can!

I am soo excited to learn this instrument as I currently play trumpet, guitar and harmonica. Looking to get my first handpan at a reasonable price and so wondered if you have heard of any of the following manufacturers?: Ebusin; YuELinG or Eavnbaek? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Hope to be floowing along with you for a long time. Many, many thanks! Terry, 60+ in South Florida.

I'm a big person. I can't get my handpan to stay balanced on my lap in a sitting position unless I'm sitting on the ground with my legs wide with the bottoms of my feet touching. Getting a rhythm is hard as the combinations and patterns confuse me, and I lose it. To sit in a chair, I would have to have a stand 🤷♂️

I have been playing guitar for 45 years and drums for 43 years (in three bands with almost exclusively self-composed songs). Now I wanted to take a new musical path and initially thought of playing the harp again, as I did 20 years ago for 4 years. While watching the harp videos, I discovered the handpan, played by Malte Marten, for the first time in the recommendations for other videos. "Bloody hell", I thought to myself. Why only now, when I'm already 62 years old. But after all, you're never too old to learn something new. Everything looked so easy on the videos of handpan players. As a drummer, I shouldn't have any problems, I thought. When I got my Sela 220 Melody Handpan D Kurd a few days ago and started playing, or rather trying to play, I was extremely frustrated and thought this purchase was probably a mistake. So I started looking for videos that offered hanpan tutorials on KZitem. At first I watched the tutorials in my native German, which were quite good, but the spark just wouldn't quite ignite. Then I discovered Amy by chance. Her absolutely authentic, relaxed and likeable manner rekindled my hopes of becoming a handpan player after all. And after what I've seen in her videos so far, I'll probably book her masterclass course too. Thank you so much, Amy, without you I would certainly have sent the pan back!

You Sir have inspired me to look for a hand pan. I’ve played percussion on and off since I was 11, now 62, and I’m falling in love with the sound of this instrument. My favorite instruments are the Güiro and the bongos, but I have also played Conga, Cow bell, Cleves, Cabassa and other Latin music instruments. I agree, this young lady is an excellent teacher. Best wishes in your journey into the hand pan.

I wouldn't recommend it. They often arrive untuned, and fall further out of tune quite quickly. But if you're willing to take the risk, it might be a good gateway pan to see if you really enjoy it and are then willing to upgrade.

I just received my first handpan...however, I also just had shoulder surgery and can only use one hand. Do you have any videos on focusing on one hand. I know learning requires we use one hand with both hands (I used to play drums so I am very aware of the concept)...but can you give me something specifically for a one handed player? Imagine an amputee trying to play and create rhythms with one hand. I'm sure practicing will always get the results, but I am hoping to watch you working this way. Thank you!!!
@AmyNaylorMusic
Жыл бұрын
I don't have any specific for just one hand, but you can certainly practice drills with one. Things like double stroke rolls, finger rolls, wrist rotation exercises. Have a browse of my channel and see what you can find to modify for one hand. In the meantime, this video explores a couple different ways to play the same groove. One way is to play it all with one and in order to free up your other. This might be helpful for getting a groove going ☺️ kzitem.info/news/bejne/r4ZuyplomIKJlY4

I think there are more tutorials for handpan, but the basic skills are all transferable. The intricacies start to differ the more advanced you get. I'm not sure if either is easier to play, I would just go for which you are drawn to the most. Both feel like pretty different instruments in terms of sound and dynamic.
