12:00 Hurled Bolas 1 dice chance: 17% 2 dices chance: 31% 3 dices chance: 42% 4 dices chance: 52% 5 dices chance: 60% 6 dices chance: 67% While Netters at 3+ have chance of 67%. So the "Hurled Bolas" ability is a dice sink that is a secondary choice if you cannot use "Call of the Hunt" or "Bellow of the Carnosaur". I would not create a strategy around "Hurled Bolas", but I see it as an okay dice sink for Triple that allows to spend the dices you will not use. So I do consider the ability as a good design approach :)

Bolas are an interesting inclusion that is just good enough to warrant Moon Club inclusion in lists. I found that plonking a shield and club on 2 skinks and the alpha gives you enough bolas to have them when you need them, but too many go oversaturate your list. Plus, it gives you a couple models with a bit more bulk to throw away in combat in a pinch. I totally agree that this ability is well designed. It fits in nicely and sinking dice into it can absolutely pay off. Those stats are great too! Thanks for including them

I don't think the Slippery reaction should be interpreted that way or else the fact that it says "allocated damage points" would be redundant since you would only ever be able to take one damage before being allowed to move. I think it's meant to be your original interpretation, you take the full brunt of the attack and if you survive you are able to disengage, it's just meant to stop you from taking two attack actions to the face I would think, which is still nice. Also, nice to see a new Warcry channel, I hope to keep seeing content from you.

I am honestly fine with the initial interpretation, but after some googling, it would appear Goonhammer also think it’s the second interpretation. Either way, Slippery is an excellent ability. Perhaps an FAQ is required on this one though. Thanks for popping by! I love warcry and there wasn’t enough content for me to enjoy. So I decided to make the content instead. I’m having a great time. Hope you stick around :)

@@wargamesontoast Per the Game played on WH TV, GW played it out as your initial interpretation. In that game, melee damage is dealt to the Alpha from a bonus action on turn 1. The 2 damage is allocated to the Alpha and it uses slippery to back away. It's at 8:04 in that video for those interested. So it does appear to be per melee attack action, as then shortly after at 8:32 in that video 3 damage is dealt by 2 attack die from another action and that skink also slips way after taking the 3 damage.

Reaction Slippery - I think you wrong about it. Reaction states "damage points from melee attack action" so basically you need to take attack action from the enemy with all of his attacks and damage from them before you can disengage. There is nothing in the rules or reaction that says you can divide or cancel attacks the way you say you can for Slippery. The way you see it should be "damage points from the first attack dice in attack action". But this is not how Slippery works.

@@wargamesontoast Thanks for the heads up. Do you have any tips on building the Jade Obelisk? Mostly how many archers to run.
@wargamesontoast
Жыл бұрын
@@TheTillyman123 I was thinking either running all of them as melee since their profile is very solid, or, running a 2/2 split so the Warband has some reach. With the band being half M4 and half M3, that extra range on the bows helps you exert some presence. My only concern is the lack of ability support for the archers, even if the points cost for them is pretty standard. I think it’s more of a flavour thing. If you want more smacky, then M4, T4, S4, A4 will absolutely provide that. If you want a bit more versatility, maybe dabble in an archer or 2

Great video! One point of clarification, Hit & Run is not going to give a skink carrying treasure 24" of movement. Any move action that begins with a fighter carrying treasure, reduces the fighter's movement by 2 (to a minimum of 3). So using Hit & Run to get 4 movement actions would give you 16". Which is still nothing to sneeze at! LOL
@wargamesontoast
Жыл бұрын
Good catch! I totally forgot about that. That 16” is very spiced as well of course. Especially when most would be getting a mere 4-6”. I think the Hunters have a lot of power on the tabletop and I am stoked to see how people crack the open. There are some very interesting Allies you can take that would fit right in too.

Since releasing this video my stance has changed. If you want to run Skinks absolutely run them with clubs over pipes. The ideal way to play then is to convert most (if not all) of them to Huanchi’s Claws. Check out Wildercorps Hunters for another faction that has a similar playstayle whilst packing a bit more punch and durability :)

Warcry is excellent! Welcome back to the hobby. As I have played more over the months since this videos release I highly recommend building your Skinks with Clubs over Blowpipes whenever possible as this will make them far harder to kill. If you are up for some conversion work, making additional Huanchi Claw models is also great idea!

Love these faction videos! After researching the various games of Warhammer to determine which to get back into I settled on Warcry as its a nice balance that is not too demanding on time to build, paint, or play. I currently have Red Harvest box set which am working through. These videos are great, im really enjoying getting a feel of the different factions and ideas of where I might go next after I complete the Red Harvest box

Great video, really enjoyed it. I just got this box too and am concerned about the low damage output. In my playgroup there's a lot of Stormcast (including Raptors and Gryph hounds) and Daughters of Khaine. I'm thinking about maybe allying in 1 or 2 big Saurus heroes to maybe help be scary and tank some. I'm building mine out very similar to yours, but taking one less dart and one more club/bola. That way too in AoS they can be brought as 2 squads of 5x.
@wargamesontoast
Жыл бұрын
Great point on the AOS implementation. The damage output is very low, but you can take out chaff. Those Gryphounds are ideal targets for your units to munch on if they get out position. Anything tougher than that? You’re probably not killing. If they take ranged units, you are in trouble. SC have some nasty ranged threats in their roster - including characters - and if they want to blow your brains out, they will. Their innate toughness stops you from effectively (or permanently) shutting them down as well. For allies, Saurus heroes could do a lot of work. They have the bulk and bite to tie up enemies and get the kills your core can’t. I am also VERY interested in running a Teradon or Ripperdactyl Hero. The speed is excellent and unlike Terrawings, these can actually pick up objectives etc. There’s a lot of play with Hunters and I think as time goes on, more and more interesting combos will get discovered and built upon. They are the most interesting faction Warcry has had in a while I think. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!
