I had a friend ask me how to play this solo on the diatonic harmonica with the missing notes. Any reverb is strictly from my empty room. Any mistakes are strictly by me needing to practice more, but I wanted to leave this video live and unedited. *Recorded on an iPhone 6*
Here are four examples of what you can do to play this solo in the style of Stevie Wonder, without using a chromatic harmonica. All harmonica are in standard tunings.
You'll need control of bends, overbends, and your vibrato to play this solo convincingly. With these techniques, you could play the solo in the original key, on any keyed diatonic harmonica. When you play with fluidity, good intonation, and a full tone, the audience won't really know when you're bending/overbending to get a note.
If you can't overbend, try taking phrases down or up the octave so you only need bends. You should keep trying, though!
