Daniel you are 100% legit my man!!! Thank you for finally putting some respect on JB and all the legends that played for him with your lesson. Finally there is someone doing it the correct way. Funk is a feeling. It was made to uplift and get you through whatever was holding you down or back. Make no mistake if JB was in the room with you he would definitely be smiling. Great job young blood. Glad to see the young bucks stepping up and keeping up!

Nicho Morrison Hey man, thanks a lot for the comment.. I really appreciate it! Yeah, I gig a lot in Detroit + church and you definitely need to know your chords lol. Listening to albums definitely helps. And yeah bro, I’ll keep making videos like this. Thanks for watching!

Great vid dude - nice groove. This is what the kids need to be learnerizin' if they want'en to be gett'n the skills to pay the bills. For I Feel Good - Personally I'd lose the root note off the I and IV chords, and the inversions that happen if you stay in your first D7 (4.5.3 on DGB) position for the G7 too (5.4.6 on DGB strings) that's closer to what the horns actually play I reckon. Then the stabs - 7655 on DGBE for A. 5665 on DGBE for the G7 ish chord gives you the awesome Stevie Wonder vibe!

Excellent video, thanks! I'm wondering, what kind of pick do you recommend for these funk rhythms?
@DanielRettberg

Thank you! On electric, I use the Herco Flex 75 by Dunlop. It's an old school nylon pick with a warm sound. It's thin enough to play these kind of rhythms, but thick enough to do fast alternate picking as well.

Dude your sub-conscious is that volume nob. You’re a master of those chords and that volume nob.
