Carlos here! I'm hoping these videos allow people to learn games quicker. I know sometimes I'll be interested in a game but it just feels like a HUGE investment of time to learn, when really a buddy of mine can break it down quickly. Does the video move too fast for you? Are there other games you're interested in learning?

Hey! This was great. Not only is this a good overview of how the game is played, but it also makes it clear how suitable R20 is for it. I would love it to be paired with a slice-of-let’s-play video, of, like 10 or 20 minutes of game, to see more of the mechanics in action (and the vibe). But yes, more videos like this, please!

@@theminorthirds Thanks! I think that's a really good idea on referencing a game. I'll definitely be adopting that moving forward, and I'll update the description to include a link. Good call!

Great vid, Carlos! I'm looking forward to all of these -- for all the different games out there. Thanks to Critical Role, everyone is playing D&D -- but I want to see all the other great games out there, and get my players into them! Monster of the Week wasn't even on my radar, but IT IS NOW!

This is a great Format! Loved to see more quick breakdowns of other Games just like this. There are so many systems that suit certain styles and breakdowns like this can really help explain if a system has the right rules for the kind of story you want to tell. A quick breakdown like this helps to know if you want to invest more time into checking out the System. Love to see: gumshoe, Dungeon World, Gamma World, Blades In The Dark, Ars Magica, World of Darkness and many more...

Great job Carlos! I've tried MotW and other PbtA games a few times, but the GMs weren't particularly good about teaching a new player or helping with things like earning experience. This is a great, useful video. :)

Thank you for uploading this! It was brief and it hits all the bases for a new person to know what it is about. A friend of mine is giving the system a go soon (as magic school students) and this will help me get a better idea of what they are doing. I think I might give it a go for one-shot weeks, but in any case, learning about other TTRPGs is a good thing! Always something to learn and employ elsewhere. I particularly like the game's Countdown mechanic, how it encourages players to build PCs as a team, and how it makes players narrate moves for the Keeper to employ when describing the result. Those three are applicable to many games. The whole package taken at narrative value seems useful to overlay onto other games in case the group likes the mechanics of AGE, D&D or Call of Cthulhu.
@carlosluna309
2 жыл бұрын
Oh thats awesome. Yeah the countdown is a must, and actually should be added to a lot more games. As a GM it's so easy to let the game get away from you, and the countdown is a great organic way to get back on track. Let us know how your game goes!

@@carlosluna309 Thanks! Will use it perhaps for a combat in tomorrow's session, see how quick the party is able to deal with a devil-worshipping troupe currently overtaking a ship. The longer they take, the more problems arise 😈 I look forward to move videos like this in the future!

This was great! All RPG's need a quick start how to guide. The Tabletop (Geek & Sundry) on Fate Core's great too. Mind expanding on that system? Magic systems are prob still the toughest to interpret. Isn't the Skill List also open to interpretation/table talk to decide what can/can't defend/attack/etc?

Yeah I love this format. Thanks for sharing! One question though: would the clock for the progress of the story be visible to players? Does it help gameplay more if it's a secret to players or if they can see whats to come? I imagine either way could be engaging.
