I was lucky enough to hang out with Reb back stage during the tour for "Heart of the Young." My friends dad was a local police officer who was working security for the show, and he was able to get us back stage between acts that day. All the guys in the band couldn't have been nicer! But Reb was in a class all of his own! I was well on my was to becoming an accomplished guitarist myself, and he asked me if I played. When I said yes, he said "well let's go jam for a few. I have to warm up anyway." Reb, Vito and Eddie were 100% my favorites! I spent countless hours in my room back then playing and constantly rewinding Winger cassettes over and over learning their songs as close yo note for note as I could! I never thought in a million years I'd get to meet him, let alone jam with him. I got to play his rarely seen white Ibanez WRB3 (Destroyer style), as well as the blue Ibanez Voyager. It was surreal! "Seventeen" though, was the ONE song of theirs that even though I had learned how to play it, I felt like there was something that just wasn't right in how the main riff sounded when I played it. He stopped me and showed me, lol. When he did, I was like "holy sh*t, it all makes sense now." I used to try to show friends how it was really played after that that were also playing it wrongIt's so cool and yet bizarre to see him do this demo so many years later. Looking back, I can't believe how gracious and kind Reb and the rest of the band were to a couple of annoying teenagers by allowing us to take up so much of their time that day! One of my greatest childhood /young adult memories. Thanks Reb!

You are one lucky man. Not many could share that kind of story. Rebs A beast. Miles away is probably my favorite song and video. I love the way the cameraman does shots of the group as the clips kind of get darker. Thought it was a well shot video. Wouldn’t it be cool if he saw your comment here after all those years and responded to you. I want to see them before they call it a day. One band I haven’t seen that I regret

@TruthSurge

@@ronaldwhiggs yeah, well, I think he sounded badass back in the day and he's really worked hard to keep his voice sounding good as he's aged. It's' not the same but it's still damn good. Friend of mine landed a gig doing 2nd guitar in Winger for a little while when they were doing some tour a few years back. I was a bit disappointed he didn't let me talk to Reb or something since I basically showed him how to do rock guitar but oh well. Maybe he held some secret grudge or maybe he just never thought to do that. But good for him. He learned the songs and apparently they liked him well enough. I think it was because John... I forget, the other guitarist live he left to play with Whitesnake or something so that left them needing someone and my friend auditioned. None of this has to do with my original comment. hehehe just thinking out loud. I play a bit of guitar, you see and since 1974 I've been dabbling around off and on. I just stumble upon vids on YT and sometimes I go wow, that was great. haha Reb is really good and not THAT good which means he is a bit more unique since he's not really playing all those GIT graduate licks or stock 80s rock licks. Too many really good players in the world!!!! Dan Huff! Lukather! Matteo Mancuso. I'll stop.
