The great thing about Justins tutorials apart from the fact they are always spot on is that he always plays them thru first. I love this because you are given the opportunity to decide whether you want to learn this song or not also if you do decide to learn you can always skip back to the start for timing and phrasing.

Justin, you are a great teacher and kudos and thank you. May I suggest that you add visuals of the chords you are playing? Sometimes it is difficult to see exactly what you are doing, in this song the chords of the verses. Your pacing, clarity and preparation are great. Some of us need as much visual help as possible. Again, you are truly one of the best instructors on-line, and your efforts are appreciated.

You're right about the full G. I never noticed that. But I've never been convinced Ritchie is playing 3 note power chords on the album version. Sounds like he's just doing his fourths thing like on songs like smoke on the water and burn. It sounds like the root note is panned slightly differently. Maybe they thought the fourths alone sounded a bit thin in the intro with no bass so they overdubbed the roots.

I´ve always loved this tune - but never nailed it. This is the BEST chord work on here - I´m Gonna rob your Middle bit !?? I had the pleasure to meet GB cos a mate from 15 years ago is now his guitar player - Conrado Pesinato. Small world ehh !! His PIPES are something else. Sound-check took my head off.!! His gig volume is something else & HE still got it at 74. 😁 thanks Justin 😁Love, Peace & VOLUME from Madrid

Wonderful song. I read an interesting anecdote about the original version, specifically the main Blackmore solo. Someone was impressed at the guitar's amazing tone, and asked producer Roger Glover, 'What effects did Ritchie put on his guitar?' Glover replied, 'Effects?'

I remember years ago reading that Blackmore played the opening G of the intro a little differently to the G5 shown here. He played it similar to a G barre chord but without barring with the 1st finger. The fingering would be: High E 3rd fret, B 3rd fret, G open, D 5th fret, A 5th fret, Low E isn't played. Having the open G string gives the chord a nice ring. Give it a try and see what you think 👍

Hi Justin. Wanted to learn this song. Found a great teacher , you! I can echo previous comments. , your clear instruction a patience is perfect. You explain the steps without too much fluff as you know we know much, not all, obs, what you're referring to . I mean tones , steps ,roots etc. My only request... those bridge melodies are built on several different scales seemlesslt blending and fitting the chord backing, would love your insight into what's going on i.e. Blues scale to major pentatonic to minor...that stuff. Thanks again and keep that grin!

I'm not complaining, but he is kinda right. The chorus sound quite a bit like pop-punk progression (I-V-vi-IV) but actually it's not (I-IV-vi-V). I also wonder how come you guys remember 2012 summer fad song and not mention the classic hit of Boston More Than a Feeling which has not only these chords in chorus but also the same key of G.
