Your video is so helpful! I am just getting back into playing guitar again after a 40 year hiatus. The most difficult issues I encounter are strength, endurance, and finger independence. Practicing slurs slowly with metronome is amazingly helpful! I particularly focus on my weaker 3rd and 4th fingers (ascending as well as descending). Man... my finger ache after this workout... but it makes my playing immediately more even and less choppy. Such a great lesson! Thank you so much, Merce... this lesson is a keeper and I will diligently continue to do this exercise everyday.

Thank you dear. I'm currently working on a piece with a lot of slurs and I thought I was ready but I don't think I am my hand's not there yet. Yikes

I have been working in 6 lute renaissance pieces as arranged by Segovia, a lot of slurs. The idea of articulating the notes first to manage the rhythm accurately was a very helpful tip. Thanks.

Hello Merce, Thanks a ton for (this) yet another useful and valuable video lesson/ tutorial on slurs, with important details and insights. I, for some reason, stopped practicing slurs, unless needed specifically, but this is a great reminder to start back, and practice it the right way, and hopefully will try to improve my playing using slurs where required or possible. The demo piece you played was so awesome 👏 ( from villa lobos etude 1?). Thank you 🙏🏻 so much again, for your effort and valuable time you put in to share your wonderful knowledge with everyone. Best Wishes and God Bless you always. Have a wonderful weekend!!

Thanks a lot Pavan! I actually do slurs in every warm up, simple ones, you don't need to get too crazy (with stretches or things like that) for them to be useful and create progress. Is also good for the strength and precision of the hand so I'm happy you will be 'rescuing' your slur practice :D
