The Boys of Bluehill is a simple melodic hornpipe that lends easily to ornamentation and is a great tune to use for teaching beginner musicians and introducing them to the specific hornpipe rhythm. It’s a tune that is very well known for being played for the accompaniment of Irish dancers. It has been included in over a 1,000 tune books and has been given various different names down through the years such as The Lads of North Tyne and The beaux of Oak Hill. Hope you enjoy my own version

ABOUT ME
I’m Gerry Nulty and I’ve been playing traditional Irish music on the Piano Accordion really all of my life, from learning as a child in various Ceili bands to competing and winning competitions and to finally working as a professional musician travelling the world with my accordion. I have accompanied various well know Irish dance troupes such as the O Shea and Inis Ealga Irish Dancers, worked with dancers from the famous River Dance show and played and collaborated with many other well-known artists from the traditional Irish Music Scene.
My music was handed down to me from my own mother who was a music teacher teaching traditional Irish music on the piano and violin. My grandmother Christina Sheridan was one of the Comerford trio and some of her recordings can be listened to on the Irish Traditional Music Archives website, www.itma.ie/ Her mother and my great grand Mother was Bridget Mc Donagh Kenny who was awarded the title of “Queen of Irish Fiddlers” after winning all there was to win on the competition scene in those golden olden times.
