Go with almost a full charge, especially when you’re taking files off. You don’t want the camera to die when your files are moving over.

Beautiful work. I hate these proprietary power supplies that are typically just fractions of a millimeter out of spec with standards. Cheekier than the center-negative designs. Also I hate devices like this that complain and shut off due to low battery even when connected to mains power. I've run into the same thing with old iPods. Like yeah, of course the battery is low, it's like 20 years old and just doesn't hold a charge anymore! But we've got _some kind of power_ , so just gimme my data!

is it possible to copy the internal files to the devices memory card? Easy to transfer to PC via the memory card.
@12voltvids

Some cameras you can. My Sony for example I can copy from internal memory or memory stick to a DVD or avchd format disk. I can pick the scenes I want and put them together in the order I want them to play and make a mini DVD or avchd disk in the camera. I didn't want to fart around with this one. I just wanted the files off the camera because I am not making that much to do it. This was a 40.00 job and that includes the usb stick I had to buy. I got 50 for that dv tape recovery. You would think people would pay a kings ransom to recover their tapes bit unless it is something like the Kennedy assignation most want the footage recovered but can live without little Johnny's Irish dance recital when he was 11. Of course John is now 30 and probably doesn't want a reminder of the torture his parents put him through.

The thing is memory cards also fail in time. For a long time I haven't had a NVR for my security cameras, so I used memory cards just until yesterday. After four years of use the cameras started to lag. Everything was choppy. So I disabled the recording onto the cards and problems went away. Using Synology Surveillance Station now. I now can record over a month of footage on my 4 TB HDD.

@@12voltvids Those Samsung memory cards I used were unfortunately high endurance and (also) high speed. Pretty expensive. That's why I'm trying something different and recording onto a HDD now. The advantage is if someone were to smash your camera, you would still have your recording. I can sleep safe and sound now. At least I keep telling myself this so I can set these unexpected expenses right with my family.

I found that your Dell Laptop was a model that came out in 2010. Depending on what processor you have { i5 or i7 } It had very good reviews via the public. On that camera mini usb came out in 2005 with a slow speed of 480 Mbits per second Here's the rate {8 megabits = 1 megabyte. 8 Mb = 1 MB.} So 480Mbit = 60MB which is pretty Slow if dealing with Gigabyte files. Cheers Dave...

@@12voltvids Yep HP also was a great unit as I have a refurbished one I bought from London drugs - A really well built unit The Elite book 8460P All metal - a bit on the chunky side but a real work horse, I can't say that for apple as they have tried with a lot of Oopses and Bad designs. I agree about what you said about all hardware soldered on board like all this generation is coming out in Laptops / Once it breaks 80% of the time it's finished for good and your data is gone forever.

@@lawrencecavens5760 Well, hold up a second when you say "hard drive". HDDs are three-legged donkeys when it comes to read/write speeds. A simple SSD swap can really reap rewards even when it comes to just using an old computer as an office machine, a web browsing machine, or a data recovery machine.

They use to sell a device call mobile junkie . It was able to transfer anything from your phone to a memory card USB or SD card using Bluetooth or internet it was fairly cheap to less than 40$ sadly I can't find anything like it anymore and its not sold. You all so were able to share it wireless to it did movie and music to. Was great for iPhone because you didn't need I tunes for it. It also was a portable battery pack to if needed. Iv done similar thing to use electrical products very nice some one finely made a video do this.
