I dont see part one on your profile. Is there a reason you don't sand all the way to bare metal? If the clear coat is compromised (and has been for a while) shouldn't the base coat be as well? Or do you only have to completely sand localized areas of failure?
@PHARRAWAY
5 жыл бұрын
No usually the clear coat is the only one that needs sanding going down to bare metal will just remove the factory etching which is one of the best so no need to do that

@@livedeliciously are you using 360 grit for the clear? Then wet sanding with 400 and 600 for surface prep?

I tried using my harbor freight stud welder on a spare motorcycle tank and it just melted the metal. And where I got the studs to stick, when I used the slide hammer it just ripped out the metal where the stud was welded and didn't pull the dent. Idk if I was doing something wrong or the metal is just way to thin for something like that to work on.
@PHARRAWAY

Wow I think the metal was just to thin

@@PHARRAWAY I guess ill have to see if I have get something inside the tank and work it from behind(not much of an opening to work from). I really don't want to use much body filler if I can keep from it.

I think too thin metal too, or maybe held the trigger too long? It only takes like 1 second or so. If you hold it too long, it can do that. I've never used the HF one though, mine is a Unispotter.
