So sorry about your grandfather and your dad. Thank you for all your insight. I love watching your videos and I’m closer than I’ve ever been to being able to do an Asian squat.

Sympathies on the loss of your Dad. My dad also died in recovery 40 minutes after surgery for a hip fracture. Thank you for these videos and for the entertaining way you address a really critical subject . I exercise daily, at 65, to try to preserve muscle mass and stability. Your videos encourage me to keep going!

I've had one major fall that could have killed me. I only broke a rib instead of cracking my head on jagged rocks next to the ocean. A small friendly dog came and jumped up on me, I should have been fine but I lost my balance. What I did break though was my confidence. I stopped going out for walks, I stopped a lot of things. More than a year later a very wise doctor referred me to the Falls Clinic. Even though I wasn't of geriatric age they still took me in, made me stronger, improved my balance, taught me about strength training, and I've kept up a lot of what I learned over ten years. I've had a lot of near falls since but most of the time, thanks to doing a lot of squats over the years, I've been able to get myself upright and balanced each time. I would amend your first rule to 'Get Strong, STAY Strong'. Over time I've lapsed in my regular strength routine due to stuff sometimes not in my control. It's always a struggle to get the strength back, but worth it. Keep up the great stuff, Upright Health!

I’m supporting my mom post total knee replacement this week, so super timely! I’m doing all her PT with her. My folks took all their rugs out for my mom’s recovery and my dad is also moving with more confidence.

Not going to lie, the isometric exercises are fatiguing. Walking, yoga, and body pump don’t hit those I guess.

The day after my 68th birthday, last Thanksgiving, I took an after dinner hike in the mountains with my kids. Kinda chilly. Had my hands in my pockets when I tripped on a tree root. Face plant - couldn't pull my hands out fast enough! Luckily, my glasses were the only thing broken. Cold hands or not, next time my hands won't be shoved in my pockets! Your videos are always very helpful - thanks! I was very sorry to hear of your dad's untimely passing...

Ouch ! Glad you are OK! I did a forward fall on ice, hands in pockets. Smashed my elbows somehow. I was in my early 40s and recovered. NEVER walk with hands in pockets! I use hiking poles with a simple elastic belt/leash apparatus for my dog. I wear the belt loose about the hips instead of waist for when he lunges. In winter I often take one pole when doing chores on the homestead, with the sharp tip exposed!

Thank you so much for your excellent videos and advice. I fell on ice 2 years ago and broke 3 bones in my ankle. I find it difficult to run or walk fast now as I have an extreme fear of falling. I think doing these strengthening exercises will help get rid of the fear.

Thank you so much for adding humor to your videos. This is such a serious subject. From a senior who has had several serious falls. Broke each foot & rib on two different falls. Your videos are both informative and so helpful! Love your channel! 💕🌴😎

Ugh! I fell because of a piece of mulch in my school parking lot! It happened so fast😢 I decided to retire from teaching and plan to get myself back to the gym. Only a few years ago, I was in very good shape.

@Upright Health: I understand the Always Think Muscles idea, but what about ligaments? I am a naturally muscular person, still I’ve had my share of injuries. I feel like my ligaments aren’t as healthy as they could be. Any thoughts?

Love your videos but wonder if these exercises are safe for someone who has herniated discs and scoliosis. Would love to find an at home program to do this safely.
