Got my Tech2 this morning. I just followed most of these instructions but instead of taking the key out while clicking the unlock button I left them in the ignition until I was finished with them. On the 8th unlock click both lf them made the seatbelt sign blink. But if it worked for you the other way as well, I'm guessing all you're missing with that workway is the "it's done" signal. Came back to this video now when programming my keys, after watching it weeks ago before ordering my Tech2. Great content! 👍🏻

So I ordered a cut key from esaab and swapped the buttons over (the original key I had had a broken key loop). I don't think I'll end up needing to use the tech 2 as the chip is actually identical. *this is new to me* because on toyota keys and others there's a tiny little chip hidden in the key casing (which is what I thought it was programming).

Regarding the Tech 2...you stated one doesn't need security access (believe it or not)...so TIS 2000 or Global TIS are not needed ? Thanks! Just a heads up, I think you got the naming a bit wrong. It wouldn’t be a “turbo x” as those were only available for the 2008 model year. Thanks for the video, good stuff! I'm still a bit confused regarding the fob part: does that have to be a brand new part from esaabparts for surely, or can a used fob be reprogrammed for a different car (for example, one from ebay). Also, some ebay listings claim an aftermarket key blade/housing + an OEM fob transformer (so it should be programmable as you show in the video). Has anyone used those in this manner successfully? P.S. I do have one original key, lost the other one. Many thanks!

@intherealworld1188
3 жыл бұрын
@@Lamster66 Not really what you said. You said 6 keys, it's only 5. Unless it's a 2010 and up 9-5 or a 2011 and up 94X, those can have up to 8. You also said you can only add the allowable amount of keys in it's lifetime and then you have to replace the CIM, this is also not true. A CIM that has the maximum amount of keys already in it's memory can be 100% be renewed/reset and does not have to be replaced. You also cannot not add used keys to a CIM if they do not already belong to the car the CIM is being installed on, meaning you cannot purchase used keys and add them unless the key is renewed first. And, it is 100% possible to add used keys after the CIM is added (initialized) to the car. Some of these things I mentioned cannot be done with the Tech 2 so perhaps that is why you do not understand. I don't really want to argue with you about this, it's more so someone else does not get the incorrect or incomplete information.
@Lamster66
3 жыл бұрын
@@intherealworld1188 You're full of yourself you pedantic twat ! So to clarify I got the amount of keys wrong however there is still a limit as I Said! And it's 5 slots and a master code BTW "The CIM needs to be either replaced or reset when the limit is reached." So again I'm correct you cannot keep adding keys infinitum As I Said ! We weren't talking about messing with the CIM were we? We were talking about adding keys and as I stated there is a limit! And yes you can program 2nd hand keys to a cim when its new. And no the keys people sell on ebay are junk as you can't use them if they've been married with the master key code from the original cim of the other car. What part of that do you not understand or feel the need to correct Pratt ?
