The short /a/ (apple) and short /e/ (every) was always the same in my mind. I can perceive the difference when they are alone, but in a word they are quite the same for me. If truth be told, I always understood the sound of T in better, sweater, etc like a sound that I have in my language, but is not a /d/ sound. I have pronounced "of" with /f/ sound and "his" with /s/ sound my entire life. Now I am imagining how a native speaker sees me when I speak! My goodness!

As an English learner, I could claim that the most difficult English sound to produce is the long /u/ sound in words like jewelry which is a tricky one by the way. I love learning American English, even though the English language in general can be so difficult to pronounce even more if I try to speak the language as native English speakers do which is kinda unrealistic but that's okay. Thanks so much for your helpful, straightforward and entertaining lessons Vanessa, you have a beautiful smile as well as a really striking way of teaching English, I love it ❤😊🌹.

English can be extremely difficult for non-native speakers. I am an American currently learning Spanish. One of the best recommendations I received was to watch Spanish language news on TV, and also cartoons! I think it would also benefit people trying to learn American English (watching American news on TV).
@wallacesousuke1433

English learner here, TV news are great but they might not be that helpful for understanding natives speakers due to how fast and unclear/lazily they can speak, not to mention the amount of slangs, regionalisms, etc.

Spanish is a very easy language to understand because we pronounce the words as they are written. We only have 5 vowel sounds. We pronounce everything clearly. Except for the s at the end of the words. In my country, we don't tend to pronounce them completely. You guys have so many vowel sounds. You reduce the sounds when it is not stressed. You have so many words in English. You tend to join everything. It takes a lot of practice to feel comfortable with your pronounciation.
