God bless the day I found your channel! I never knew I could propagate the caladium tubers by splitting them into pieces. I have a few varieties and will definitely try this process. Thank you so much for sharing Thelma, cheers and happy growing🙌🏽👌

You have the best caladium propagation video I’ve seen yet. However, yours and others seem to be coming from a tropical world. I’m in zone 7b and wondered what advice you’d give for me. We had our first frost in October. I had brought my potted caladiums in prior to that. Two weeks ago I dug them out of their pots (no leaves or stems left) and was going to let them dry for two weeks. Where should I go from here? 1) store them away as (dried) bulbs for the next 2-3 months, then divide them, etc., 2) go ahead and divide them now, cure them, then store them away for a couple of months or, 3) something else?

Hello David, thanks for your question. It's best to store the clean, dry caladium tubers in a cool, low-light location indoors until early spring. The best time to begin splitting them into propagation segments would be from March to early April. Of course, monitor regularly during storage and propagate any tuber that sprouts prematurely. Follow the propagation steps shown in the video.

Hi - I am new to this and my mom loves Caladiums and I want to try to grow for her every year. Help me on the below... #1) Life cycle of Caladiums is short just a few months. Then dormancy. Plant will not come back if the corm freezes so corm must be taken up and stored during winter and replanted when it's warm again. So this way never have to buy again. #2) Caladiums can be forced out of dormancy to grow inside under a grow light in warmth. But sounds like they will still only last a few months... normal dormancy is Oct to May but if take out of dormancy prematurely like in Feb they will go die & go dormant earlier than October- right? #3) Also, wondering...if chop the corm into pieces will the pieces eventually each become full corms?

Great questions, Beverly. Some of my answers will depend on whether you're in a warm or cold climate. You've inspired me to do a video based on your questions. Look out for it in about 2 weeks. Blessings 🙏

Hi dear I'm from Guyana, if I don't have vermicelli, can I used cow mole and perlite?

Yes, you can replace vermiculite with decomposed cow manure or other porous organic materials such as decomposed rice trash or peanut shells. You can also check out our video on making potting mix for further information. Blessings❣️
