@@annapendrak1361 I do leave it outside but depending on how cold you are you nay want to give it some protection with a row cover or cold frame. You still want it to go dormant but don't want them to get too cold.

Dave, I have a 5 gal Natchez I planted last spring. It has done fairly well and is a 4 stalk up to about 8’ tall now. My question falls on the stalk diameter as it’s base is about 1 1/4” and at midway about 3/4”. It is in bloom now and I’ve got it controlled with string but the storms have shown it’s weakness as being spindly. Would you recommend pruning in late fall down to about 4 1/2 foot tall above the first forks and next year selecting what growth needs to stay going forward in the dormant season.?

Interesting question! I'm guessing that the branches are weighing heavy due to the blooms? If so I would probably trim the branches back a little this fall, making sure to remove all the seed heads that form from the blooms. I would probably try to keep it taller, maybe 6ft. If branches start at 4ft they may be a little low for maneuvering around with mowers or walking around. 6ft would give you some head height if it branches out.
