In this video, I will show you how I protect my Japanese maple trees (pre-bonsai and bonsai) from extensive sun and heat.
It's important to study your space and understand which part gets sun/shade throughout the day. All trees should be planted/placed accordingly based on each tree's sun tolerance level.
For bonsai trees, you can move them under the shade of bigger trees, under outdoor patio umbrella (temporarily), or use a shade cloth (30-50%) to protect them from sun and heat to prevent the leaves from being scorched.
Make sure to wanter them 2-3 times a day. It's a bit of work but is rewarding when you see beautiful fall colors!

Our garden is under construction but we hope to open it up to public in the near future! Follow us if you love Japanese maples and want to know what's happening in our garden! In this channel, we focus on walking thru our Japanese maple bonsai garden throughout all seasons, discussing how to prune Japanese maples, how to air layer Japanese maples, how to propagate Japanese maples and how to take care of them including pruning, fertilizing, etc.
