Corrosion on a boat can be very costly. In this My Boat segment, Mike show us three ways to help fight against both galvanic and electrolytic corrosion with sacrificial anodes, a galvanic isolator and with an anti-corrosion spray. Mike explains which anodes are most effective in salt and fresh water before walking us through a complete installation of a Mercathode galvanic isolator, that can help reduce corrosion and even make your anodes last longer. Once you see how easy an isolator is to install, you might decide to take on the project yourself. But if you don't want to poke around your lower unit or mess with your 12 volt electrical system, just ask your local dealer or marina to help you out. In the long run, preventing corrosion is a lot less expensive than replacing drive components!
