In this video I show you how I cut back my Giant Reed Grass, annually, each fall. These are very easy plants to grow and can provide fast shade for any area of your yard.
Cutting these plants back each Fall will help stimulate the new growth for the following season and prevent breaking and folding with heavy snowfall.
Giant Reed is a great plant for quick shade and privacy. They grown about 20ft tall by the end of spring and remain through Fall when it's time to prune them back.
These plants are considered invasive and can spread very quickly. Thinning these out can be necessary if you want to control the spread of these.
