alternatively start at the top and work down, as it means you have a bit more grip to use which is surprisingly helpful.

Start at the top as the overlaps of the grip will be facing up the stick (if that makes sense). When you slide your right hand up the grip preparing for a shot (which happens a lot more frequently than you sliding your right hand down the grip) it goes with the over laps rather than against, this will help to prevent pulling up of the grip. But each to their own :)

A fair point this is just the way we do it which has worked for 15 years. Most people we do it for prefer the way we do it. But as you say there is another way to do it and it is down to personal preference.

Never wrap from the bottom to the top! Always from the top to the bottom! The overlaps are facing the wrong way, every time you slide your hands down you will unravel the grip. Everyone in hockey knows this.

Should I wrap it around the grip that is all ready there , or should it cut the old grip away?
