I love the abuse used to test the utilization of the paperclip. So extra but goes to show how well of an idea it is. Best and cheapest option I've found online. tY

That's amazing! This is my first time using a pegboard and I was excited about organizing my tools and then the pegs kept falling out! I didn't want to buy new pegs and I thought, "There's gotta be a hack that someone came up with," and found your video. The way you aggressively test whether it's secure no matter how roughly you pull the tools out made me excited about organizing my tools again. Plus, I have hundreds of paperclips going unused. Two birds with one stone! Thanks for sharing.

Tried it. Worked better on straight hooks vs. the tool holders. Took additional manipulation to get the bottom part to stay in the hole. On some, I flipped the paper clip so the smaller portion was on top. On some I hooked it two holes down to get it to hold better. Works okay, but probably not much better than the black plastic fasteners. We’ll see how long they last.

I like that they are not permanent. I have even triedt to use adhesive caulk but it fails because of the changes in the temperature in my garage and the coating on the board. I like your real world testing method. 👍

1/4" silicone/rubber tubing is better. push in tubing (1/4" inch play per side), don't cut tubing until desired length in (need tube for fanagling it in:). It works like majico! Have a nice day. Oh, no need to order anything! it's sold in all ACE/H.D/fish stores etc...If crazy or insane...Hot glue it in place, either way, it works! WD40 is fun if probs occur. Just for laughs...You got to lube it, lube it. Really say's me?...Not :) Oh...it's only $5-7 for yards of it.

@hellaBayAr3a

@@LockeLaboratory I also used 1/4" sized hooks for my pegboard, and have been having the same issue. I get that reducing the space between the hardware and the hole may seem like a simple solution, but guess what Steve?? lol. I just bought a pack of plastic peg locks, but when I run out, I'll definitely try your paperclip technique!

No, this is not a good solution. The clip is ugly, flimsy, and occupies the space where the tool should hang. It looks dreadful and messy, not neat. A creative idea, but not a solution. I am sick of the price gouging on flimsy junk that is sold as a retainer clip. You have two solutions: Use hot glue gun to keep retainers glued in place, or build a plywood tool hanging board with custom storage for all tools. No more pegboard! The advantage is, you can build in sections so it is modular and easy to move along with you, or as a folding cabinet - no dust, layers of walls inside for compact storage.
