I'm excited to share some creative machine-quilting ideas with you today. Recently while working on this beautiful Traverse quilt, I couldn't stop coming up with new designs. Now I'm ready to show you one of my favorite patterns using my Sway rulers.
If you haven't seen the Sway rulers yet, you're in for a treat! I designed them to be extremely versatile for both marking and quilting. This Sway rulers have a curved hook end perfect for marking circles. The circular edge and concave side are just right for following with your machine. No matter if you quilt on a sit-down or longarm machine, the 1/4 inch offset from the needle to the ruler's foot edge allows the machine to glide smoothly.
For this project, I'll also be using one of my favorite mini rulers from The Quilted Pineapple. It's such a handy size for marking small shapes accurately. Speaking of marking, you know how much I love my Blue Mark-B-Gone marker. Throughout the project, I'll mist away the lines using a simple baking soda solution. It's so satisfying to see the marks disappear!
I selected So Fine! thread color #471 for this row as it blends perfectly. In my full PNQ Quilt Academy video, I'll share all 25 machine quilting motifs + 16 thread colors I used. For the bobbin, I'm sticking with Superbobs pre-wound bobbins which have been running smoothly on my Gammill 22" machine.
With my ruler foot attached and stitch length set to 13 SPI, I'm ready to start marking and quilting. Remember to have a nice large flat surface for your work too. Friends, let's head to the machine - I can't wait to show you this fun new design!
