Your PDF doc is really well done. I am a worship leader at my local church, and have a small ministry teaching others beginning guitar while trying to further the gospel of our Lord. I have given my students bits of these fundamentals, but not as clearly as you have. I am 72 years old, and deal with some other older folks as students. I do not charge any of them as this is only a ministry that does not cost me anything but time. I say that to ask your permission to print this PDF for those who don't know much about the internet and while I give them and continue to give them links for KZitem and URLs, they unfortunately, fall for phishing scams and fail to understand the internet making it another hurtle. If I give them hard copy they can focus on the guitar. Anyway, I can see the Lord in you brother and I rejoice in your success in reaching folks with the good news, and wanted to encourage you in your ministry. The world has become a dark place, and it does my heart good to see the light you are sharing. Keep up the good work brother.

Hi Josh, thank you for generously sharing your tips and lessons. I just learnt how to play What Child is this, fingerstyle through your tutorial. Thank you. Would you have the tutorial for Give me Jesus, one of my wife's favourite songs. When she heard you on youtube she said I must learnt to play it like you! Is a tutorial on this song available? Thanks😁😃

Hi brother Josh, I´m Esteban from Argentina. I want to ask you which software do you use to create sheet music (if i wrote well that word) of guitar or ukelele. I hope God bless you in your ministry of worship music. Sorry my english :). Cheers

Thanks Josh. I will be including this link with my guitar lessons when I get back to doing them again. We each have different ideas, but I'd think about that "-2" tab notation when using a drop d capo. Its confusing because the tab numbers represent where to place your fingers on a string. I'd just mark it with a "0" like the other open string markings. That way all numbers are relative to the capo. But thats just me. Good job on the video. 👍👍 People have been asking me to make a tab reading video. Now I don't need to! I'll just send them to your link!

Yeah, I was doing that for a while but it threw off the sheet music readers since if I enter 0 there it makes the note an e on the staff. The other problem is that sometimes I reach behind the capo to play the E bass. I haven't tabbed out a song like that yet because I thought it may be too tricky for people.

Maybe I can get the PDF to print with the -2 still highlighted red so it would be real obvious to people. I always put a note in with the TAB about the drop D capo but now I have the challenge of having people around the world who don't speak English purchasing TAB sometimes so that starts to make a bigger issue. Who would have thought that a capo that makes playing the guitar so easy would make so many problems in TAB? That's one big reason I haven't done TAB for I Surrender All since for that one I use my "DADGAD" capo. That song would get kind of crazy too. When I play Carol of the Bells I do a drop D capo on the 5th fret and then actually play a few bass notes behind it at different points so you would have like a -5 open E and the -3 and -2. I probably just shouldn't do that one either. It's too bad though since it's such a cool song.

@@JoshSnodgrassLessons Or do like I do...skip the notation altogether and just do TAB. The timing can be heard with the video or CD. Most people just read the TAB anyway. Then that open string below capo can just be a 0. Just leaving work from a night shift. Covid is really getting much better. I hope people continue precautions these holidays until it is gone altogether. Hate t o see another spike. We are worn out. 😷

Thank you for your lessons, but I don’t understand at 10 minutes and 52 seconds in your video when you count one and 23 I don’t understand why you were only picking single strings when the first line of notes should be three strings one then and 23 I don’t understand that. Why are you only picking one string when the tab when the musical notes say three

Hi Doug, that's a good question. I looks like I goofed up there. You're right that on that first beat I should be picking the lowest string for the bass note of that G chord and then the 2 highest strings at the same time but I didn't do that there for some reason. Sorry about the confusion.
