Reading at bedtime is my sleep habit too. Get into bed, start reading, and let the world drop away and your mind relax. Now that I have a Kobo Libra 2 (thanks to my sister), I have that warm light option which I find helps with my relaxing. And, wow, yeah, I really like the Kobo Libra. Nothing wrong with even the basic Kindle, but the Kobo has so many more options (I've downloaded books from the library directly onto it; they seem to have fixed the page turn button issue as I'm not having any issues, and I like reading with one hand and being able to turn pages while I'm eating or stirring a pot of food; I can adjust margin width and line height to match my preference). I picked up the sleep cover for it a couple of days later.

Congrats on your new Kobo, Chris! Isn't that warm light option wonderful? Kobos have so much more flexibility compared to Kindles, you're right. Enjoy!

I completely agree with not finishing every book I start. I feel like if I feel stagnant with a book then I move on to another book. I take turns with my books thanks to my kindle it’s very easy to do that

Thanks for the tips, Maneetpaul! I first encountered your channel when I was contemplating which e-reader to upgrade to last week. I set a goal to read 22 books in 2022 so this video is extremely useful as well! I started my e-reading 'career' with a Kobo Touch from 2011 for a few years. I then got a Kindle 8th generation (2016) that had been randomly given to me by a relative, but it had gotten a bit dated for me with the 166px screen and the lack of a backlight. After perusing your videos, a strong desire for such a backlight and for Overdrive integration without particularly caring about waterproofing made me settle on a Kobo Clara HD. It should be here this week so I am excited to get reading! Keep up the great work! It's clear you put a lot of effort into your videos and I'm sure you'll continue to accrue more subscribers as time goes by. I don't subscribe to new channels very often these days but I was happy to here.

These are really good tips. I used to be attached to a book once I started it. I’ve learned that if a book is not holding my interest, it’s ok to go on to the next. Sometimes I’m not mentally ready for the book and I’ll go back to it, but most of the time I just leave it and never return. Lol!

Reading and listening at the same time is my go-to. Put the speed at 2x to 2.5x speed it really helps me comprehend the story way better

You know, some of the audio book narrations are so sloooooow, and that's when I started listening to things at 2x. (Which eventually led to my listening to all my podcasts at 2.7x.)

@@kelvinkao7436 I completely agree. I've read 70 books this way since February and as long as I can get both book and audiobook i won't be slowing down anytime soon lol

Hi Maneetpaul!! I also had the idea to read with my buddies and you are right... it has helped me go from reading 10 books to 50 books a year! I am so sorry you don't have friends who share your love for reading or love the same books as you 😪 How about you make all of us your reading buddies? You're already so awesome as a KZitemr, if you shared what you were reading with us and focused on book tubing, that would be so awesome. I would love and support such content from you

Hi Amy! Thank you so much for your kind words and support! I actually started a virtual book club in January to find my community of nonfiction readers (since I don't have any friends in real life who like to read these kinds of books). You can check it out here, if you're interested 😌 go.maneetpaul.com/book-club If you want to join, email me (hello@maneetpaul.com). I'll be sure to give you a discount code to use. Thank you again for commenting and your support 🙌🏽

Really interesting video! I was in a similar situation a few years back, never really read much of anything as a kid. Then over the last few years I have fallen in love with reading and the value it can bring. Would definitely agree with the "why" you are reading, was a big one in getting me out of a few reading slumps! Simon Sinek "Start with Why" is a great book around this and worth reading! Looking forward to the next video, keep up the great work!

Man you mentioned skimming books! Great idea, I do it all the time. Everywhere EXCEPT on the kindle. That’s my main issue with the kindle. It’s so slow that you can’t do anything but systematically crawling through a book. Maybe I’m missing something? How do you skim a book on a kindle?
