Hi Lena- thanks for the question. Sometimes it depends on the quality of the microphone; it may be picking up the fan noise from your computer, or it might just not be a quality microphone. If you are using an external microphone (meaning, one you plug into the computer and not the built-in microphone), make sure you have it selected in Audacity's settings. If you're using the internal microphone, do your best to record and utilize the Background Noise Removal feature in Audacity (tutorial coming soon). I hope that helps, let me know if this resolves the issue.

@StephenKwiecinski
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rebecca - sorry you're having trouble. Hopefully this will help... Once a file is saved, you can reopen the file in Audacity, increase the volume using the Amplify effect, then save the file again. This is the quickest option you can do right now. For the best quality audio, I recommend amplifying the volume before you save as an MP3 the first time, since the quality degrades each time you open and edit an MP3 file. If you do this, you may need to re-record your audio and re-send to the engineer. I hope this helps! Keep me posted...

Hey Sherien- check out this forum for some help setting up your headphones as studio monitors: forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?t=83137 As a side note- you may experience latency when you set this up (meaning, a delay between when you speak and when you hear your voice through the headphones). I am new to Audacity and puzzled. If I want to record “a voice-over” in order to sell it - is voice over just my voice reading something (nothing in the background) or I should deliver a product where my voice is already over a video that they send me?
@StephenKwiecinski
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question, Carmen- a voiceover (recorded voice) is commonly used in videos or presentations to describe what is going on on the screen. So yes, a voiceover is essentially your voice used as the soundtrack of a video or presentation. If you do voiceover work for an agency, for example, you may be hired to record your voice while reading a script. Your recorded voice file would then be used by a company that uses your voice as the soundtrack for the video. You would get paid through the agency (or directly from the company, if you sold them your services directly). Also, you could create audio recordings and save MP3 audio files to sell on your website or another vendors site. These wouldn't technically be voiceovers, just audio files. I hope that helps!

Hi Avinaash - go to Edit >> Preferences. Under DEVICES >> RECORDING, make sure you have the correct microphone selected next to 'Device' (if there are multiple devices in the dropdown list, you'll have to test each one). Please keep me posted, let me know if this helps.
