Planet Green is one of the last remaining US-based ink cartridge remanufacturers from an industry thriving in the 80's.
The threat to it is also a threat to the environment-375 million cartridges ending up in landfills every year. That threat is made worse single-use and counterfeit cartridges, proliferated by online shopping. The remanufacturing process was developed to utilize the original equipment manufacturer specifications.
The single-use ink makers ignore these specs, in favor of lowering their costs, and that of the consumer. That makes their ink look more attractive, but means their cartridges only has one life and ends up taking up space in landfills, burying a potential resource for the circular economy.
