This tutorial was super helpful--I watched it like 8 times in preperation to do it. A few things I noticed (good and bad): -The Envirotex doesn't burn but it can scorch. I used a light color and I must have gotten too close with the lighter and scorched it. It didn't come out so now I'm left with a dark mark :( -While many people online say this doesn't work, I found that using my hair dryer on low was the best way to get bubbles out. I never got all of them out though--there's still small ones but they blend withmy glitter. -The Envirotex instructions say not to use this on bright white due to possible discoloration. I had already done all my work in bright white so I stuck with it, but I thought I should warn others. -I could not get the Envirotex to cover the backsplash sides as well as Marzi makes it look. Mine ended up with a bit of a drippy look. -A good thing about the Envirotex is that it is "self healing" pretty far into the process. At the 3-hour mark when I was taking up the tape, my tape pretty badly marked a part of my countertop. It healed itself within minutes! Earlier in the process, this was helpful to getting a few pieces of hair and dust out. -Marzi is right about taping well and using lots of newspaper. I'm glad I took her advice--it's messy! Despite some of my struggles, I want to give a HUGE thanks to Marzi for doing this tutorial. I was living with horribly ugly bathroom counters because I couldn't afford new ones and now I have a very pretty bathroom countertop for under $50!

I did this to my bathroom counterpoint some time after watching this video. It turned out great. I just did my entire kitchen counter. I mixed glitter into the epoxy. works better that way. A hair dryer works better than a flame for removing bubbles on large areas. My kitchen counter (solid black with fine chrome glitter) looks so damn good! I had to epoxy in two coats. Make sure you buy more epoxy than you think you need!

jean francois sorry, didn't see this, it was about $75, but I have a lot extra. I only have to buy the poxy (sticky stuff) again. I have paint, glitter, gold leaf...enough to do most of my kitchen. I got small cans of paint, so I may need to get a bit more of that. Plus the Martha Stewart paint was on clearance. Got glitter from dollar store. And the sea sponge, Micheals was very costly, got it at walmart in bathing area and picked at it with tweezers until it was a good stamp look. Good luck. The video isn't kidding about watch for drips for x amount of time. And if I were to do the bath again I would have used a lot more gold pieces. I didn't want a gaudy look, but after the sticky stuff, it isn't as drastic.

We just did this in our bathroom. My teenage daughters and I experimented around and ended up with a *ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL* gray, silver, & white countertop (it had been salmon laminate 🤮). We were so excited that we decided to keep going and just about have the whole room transformed using not much more than paint, epoxy, contact paper, and elbow grease ❤️! We did purchase a new sink and faucet (they were 16 years old) and tiles for the backsplash. All that’s left is a cute over-john and towel hooks. Thanks for sharing...we love our new bathroom!

Hi All First of all thanks so much for this video. I tried this project on March 4, 2017 in my bathroom. Like others have mentioned I couldn't find Martha Stewart's thicker paint. After priming two times I tried to use the black acrylic paint but it was too thin.😯 I remembered I had black Rust-Oleum in semi gloss in the basement! Yippee it worked. I thought I followed your instructions, but I started pouring the epoxy on but the accent colors weren't dried.😮 Wow, this mistake looks really cool and I love it! The hardest part was putting the newspaper and tape to cover the cabinet. So far so good, it's drying now and I love it already! I omitted the gold leafing, Michael's only had the Martha Stewart brand and I wasn't going to spend that kind of money to use a little amount. I used the 8 oz of epoxy and had plenty still left in the container. Thanks again, this project was easy to do.

I just refinished my kitchen countertops using Envirotex lite. I learned some really good lessons, #1 being: don't try to use it on the vertical face of back splashes--you just can't get rid of runs. I called the company twice for help, and they admitted the back splash is a challenge. I had to sand it down, and the second go around I brushed it on with a foam brush, and continuously wiped it off. I even tried smoothing it with a kitchen soft spatula. I still have runs, but not as bad as the first time. It's the only part of the project that looks bad.

It's so awesome finally finding a video showing the envirotex process! I'm in the process of doing this on my bathroom counters, but I am concerned about the envirotex with the paint tape.. When you removed the painters tap from the back of the counter, did it snag or seal into the envirotex coating? Did you just go over it with a razor to get a clean separation?

You can roll the primer and base color with a foam roller. This will save time and cover more even. Yes the brush is still needed for corners. Yes the epoxy will enhance the color greatly so if possible do a test board so you don't have to do it twice on the counter like the person in the video. I suggest a heatgun if you don't want to use a torch. A lighter is painfully slow and you will miss bubbles. Torch or heatgun 3 times and you will get all the bubbles and the epoxy will look like glass.

I have been using the two-part epoxy for years. Michael's use to sell them in 32 oz kit....now they are 16oz. Same product, same price ! You can find a 50% coupon.... or you can go to Lowes. Find a 2part epoxy that is the same as Michaels. Cheaper . You can also sand them down after one week with 1000 grit to 2000 grit. Polish with car wax ( first polish with rubbing compound then work up to a high polish. Small electric buffers are great...just don't go fast !
