@7:50 I use that technique all the time. What I found helps to avoid nicks is once you're through the outer sheathing, turn the blade a bit towards the ground wire in the center and as you pull the blade edge is pushed by the sheathing against the bare copper. Makes the job a lot easier.

I am a diy'er and I was following the video and I like how you found a good spot to attach/install a new outlet box. I live in Upland CA so I am sure we have some different requirements here in California. I had two questions, and I am sure this might be your preference. but I would also like to know this. 1st why a metal box and not a blue plastic receptacle box (is it because of the ground needed for the wires?) also this looks like it would be a good place to wago style connectors? I know some people don't like the wagos and other swear by them , but I am always open to hearing what people think. I am doing some light work at my house replacing a lot of the receptacle outlets in my home that were backstabbed and the ones that did have screws the screws were unscrewed all the way and I have found 2 receptacles that had open grounds, so I am slowly replacing all with the Leviton Decora edge push click done connectors. I guess I have a 3rd question and what do you think of these Leviton Decora edge connectors? Keep up the detail in your videos, it helps us all. I like how most things make sense in working with electricity and there are standards that need to be followed.

Great video Ron! I am surprised that you didn't use a wire connector or a "Buchanan" compression ring on the twisted ground wires to give them a good electrical/mechanical connection. Also, did you add 2 staples 6" to 8" on the left side of the box to secure the cables? I would have tighten up the two screws on the left side cable connector before putting the porcelain light fixture up to get clearance to the two screws. All in all, nice work and thanks for the video.

Just the other day I ran into a situation on a service call where there were two different circuits in the same 3 gang switch box. Hi Ron, Love your work and videos, I'm sub'd and have watched all of them My question is really a theory one. I have two of those ecoflow delta pro units as a home backup for occasional grid outages. It's a large LFP battery capable of 240 split phase output so my well and freezers stay running when connected to them. The rear charging port is identical to the one on any desktop computer and came with that same computer style 3' 120 volt 15 amp rated power charging cord. Below the charging port where the cord plugs in it says "100-240 @ 15 amp"......? Is there a way to get "240 @ 15 amp" out of my 240v-30 amp (14-30R) dryer wall plug using some pigtail adapters? Unsure about going down from 30a to the15a max required current.I've seen a 14-30p to 6-15R (6-20R) pigtail adapter but how is the current limited to the 15a max????. Thanks, Bob R.

wrapping an entering ground conductor around the screw is against code now I believe(forget where I read that/section/year) they want it pigtailed so you have full length conductors, the screw will not damage the conductor close to the entering end and/or if the wire gets yanked out some it will not un-bond from the box first before possibly shorting a current carrying conductor to the box. because who doesn't hot boxes. 🥳🥸

@@electricianron_New_Jersey ok, they changed wording in 2020 code again, but I think it applied before that in earlier changes. Metal Boxes. A connection used for no other purpose shall be made between the metal box and the equipment grounding conductor(s) in accordance with 250.8. the wording "a connection used for no other purpose" implies a dedicated wire to the box, unless it has a ground bonding bar. they keep changing things and who knows what NEC code year your working with, so many lag way behind in the versions and then the local jurisdictions. not trying to bust balls 🤓 *whoops, it's part of 250.148 as 250.8 defines the allowable attachment devices, screws, clips, etc.
