Great video. What's the typical length for that modified bolt you use for the pivot point?

Thanks for the question and the kind words; It just so happens I saved the modified bolt and have it in my hand. It is a 5/16 bolt and I cut it off as to make it 3 inches long. I don't remember how long it was before I cut it off but it had to be at least 4 inches or more. It was an ordinary grade 5 bolt however if you are headed to the hardware store to buy one I would opt for a grade 8 bolt as it would be much stronger. Let me know how you do getting your adaptor off. Don't forget the safety glasses. Thanks for watching.

@@richardspaulding5035 Finally getting back to this as I went junkyarding the other day and used your technique to get a couple blade adapters off a couple old Jacobsen mowers. Two out of three were a success, and that was with using a ratchet to drive the puller. I suspect if I had my impact gun I would have gotten all three off. I actually ended up using some 1/4" drive extensions (different lengths were required) as my pivot point.

I am very sorry I have taken so long to reply. I spent some time in the hospital this past week. I am not sure I understand the question you are asking. If it is about the puller set I used, it was a Snap-On that was purchase as a young mechanic in the 1970s.

I would use a pull hammer for car bodywork to pull out the adapter.

If you search for "jaw puller" you'll find these tools. Crazy expensive, down to $18.

Thanks for the question. I had to go back and watch the video to see what I used. It was the Snap-On CJ282B Puller set. I purchased it right off the Snap-on truck in the 1970s when I first became a mechanic. I do not know if the set is still available itself but I recently was able to purchase a replacement part from them. I just now looked on eBay and there are several used sets available. Thanks for watching my channel.

Thanks for the question, Bentley; That was part of a Snap On gear puller set I purchased right off the visiting Snap On Truck as a young mechanic in the 1970s. I do not recall the exact part number. if you go to the Snap On web site and type in the search box "gear puller set" they have several offerings. These days they are very pricey at about $700+.

@@richardspaulding5035 how many inches is it. I've noticed jaw puller sets containing a puller of 6 inches, 4 inches and 2 inches, which one is it please

@@workoutman4252 It was the middle size of the 3 sets of jaws that came with the kit. I just measured it at 94 mm or 3.703 inches. I measured that from the center of the locating hole to the part that grips the work piece.

It was the Snap-On CJ282B Puller set. I purchased it in the 1970s right off the Snap on truck as a young mechanic. I think they are quite pricy now. You can still find used sets on eBay a lot cheaper. thanks for the question and watching my channel

@@boomkiller84_yt40 I don't think there is, at least in my case that thing was on there. I don't think there is ant way without some sort of puller. Perhaps you can borrow one somewhere. Thanks for your question.
