my collapsible shaft rusted through and snapped today while parking the car. The tow truck guy said "replace it with a pipe and weld it in", which didn't sound right to me. Took it to the Bug specialist, who's going to reweld the original pattern (you can't buy new ones any more in Turkey, where I am). A much better solution. So this video could have saved my life (if I hadn't gone with my gut anyway) during a crash.

Thanks for the comment, I hope you get it back up and running soon. Before this type of column, the were solid from the steering wheel to the gear box, no safety mesh.

Thanks for the comment. To just glance at the shaft it kinda looks like it’s all welded up. If you haven’t please subscribe. Thanks again

Hi. I was just wondering if you know how to change the bearing in a collapsible steering shaft? Thanks.
