This method was great. I was replacing a dead battery, and it was great not to have to deal with a chemical adhesive remover! It took very little time to remove the battery without damaging anything! I did not have a syringe with a needle, so i used an art syringe with a curved nozzle - it worked as well as a needle would have!

This method is so an awesome way to remove the glue underneath the battery cells. I want to thank you for sharing this. I live in Uganda and every part for Macbook is almost impossible to find. Being a computer technician here is a challenge indeed. Back in my home country Norway everything is available. Most of my clients here are expats. That's why I get to work on Macbooks

@Tech Services next time please tell people that alcohol damages the displays and you need to protect it with tissue + dillute it with water. I just followed your advice and my screen now broken with isopropyl alcohol.

Good point. Probably best to open the Mac upside down over the edge of a table

70% isopropyl alcohol in a spray bottle also works well! Doing that now. Just takes ~2 mins and then it's easy enouth to pry the batteries off.

Whoever came up with the idea to glue the batteries down on MacBooks needs to be fired.

If I may, what did you use to stick them back on, and where did you get it?

I've found there's enough residual 'sticky' left even after removal. Failing that use a couple of strips of double sided tape.

Guys, be careful, I used >90% isopropyl (alcohol from the video) and it damaged my display. Always protect it with some cloth!!! Man, I'm so disappointed that u didn't recommend screen protection and it led to broken display.

A way to save it yes. BUT.... a 2015 battery or any battery for that matter will have many charge cycles on it depending on usage. This is a prime opportunity to simply replace it and not have to repeat again later. A new battery will last roughly 4-5 years so not simply replacing it is really not the best idea nor practical. If this was recorded 2 years ago, then this battery is all LEAST halfway gone if not more..... This a horrible tutorial the more I watch . Isopropyl like that will destroy the LCD if not separated or a towel I between. Definitely do NOT do it this way. Use dental floss if piano wire, then goof off on a towel and replace the battery 9nce it's exposed to alcohol (battery adhesive removal like he did here) that battery is at risk.
