For all those with a screen where nothing seems to work try glass etching cream/paste. You can get this online and it's normally used to create etched designs on glass. It worked for me to get rid of all the coating from my 2015 macbook pro 15' after I tried everything including mouthwash, wipes, alcohol, acetone, baking soda - you name it, I tried it and ended up with a blotchy screen. The whole thing took 30 minutes and this is what I did: covered the body with a plastic bag taped down to create a proper seal; taped around the edge of the screen (even though these protective measures were overkill as the paste dries quickly and becomes non-reactive); cleaned the screen with alcohol; placed laptop on towel with screen down and body at 90 deg. angle; put on rubber gloves (important) and applied cream in sections with a rag and worked it in a circular motion for several minutes until cream was dry (don't apply and leave for longer than a couple of minutes); used another rag to remove the dried cream and polished the treated area; continued process until entire screen is done (worked cream into edges and used finger - as long as you're wearing rubber gloves - to apply cream in corners and around edges); used paper towels to polish the entire screen and old toothbrush to get dried cream out of hard to reach areas around the rubber seal; removed protective tape and bag; cleaned screen and edge with alcohol (isopropanol). The end result was a screen with no coating that looks like new. I normally don't share tips online but thought you might benefit from knowing that this approach really works.

Use unscented baby wipes, just did this for the girlfriends mom’s MacBook. Took about 10-12 minutes, only 2 wipes and circular motions with moderate pressure, not too much and not being too gentle. Wipe away excess with a microfibre wipe and then final clean with a little bit of windex on the microfibre wipe and it looks brand new and no residue

Just tried this method and it's by far the best. Stripped my coating in about 20 minutes without much effort. Worried screen would look "bad" after, but nope it's beautiful. My ugly MacBook Pro now looks new again.

Ho yeahhhh. For a 2014 laptop of my wife. I could not let her like that. The toilet cleaner is working amazingly well when you scrub it delicately, cleaning after with alcohol, like you showed. The process is correctly fast, the result is really cool. I know the laptop has ten years, and software won't upgrade, but it still work like a charm. Thank you very much for the tip doing it with product already at home! Congrats

Listerine works beautifully too. I used it on my mid 2014 Macbook Pro after I found out from Apple that I'd missed the recall window by a mere 30 days. I called the stores and the factory but nobody wanted to help me out with it. They suggested I buy a new screen for just under a thousand bucks Canadian. When ever I have a computer problem and the answer is some company saying replace ANYTHING, then I know they're lying. There is always a fix. I did what I always do and scoured the net and found one person in one forum who suggested LIsterine. I carefully tried it on a corner of the screen and it worked beautifully. In minutes it was like I had a brand new Macbook Pro right out of the factory. Guess what, the glare was no worse without the glare coating than with it.

Apple applied anti glare coating on the outside of the screen like a paint.Over time anything, and I mean anything that gets on screen will start damaging it and remove the coating.In my case it was little tiny fly crap that I was trying to remove and the coating literally started to come off along with it.Before that my screen was absolutely perfect.You could probably prevent it by not using your laptop at all.But then whats the point.Otherwise its anavoidable.

@The Insanely Great Apple Channel I can send you a pic of my display if you want. But I also may depend on the actual construction of the display and on the quality of the antiglare coating. There are a lot of stories of "instant wipe", and some other have more difficulties. I was luck on mine because it's 100% perfect without any imperfection, even minor.
@olivierpericat9224
3 жыл бұрын
@The Insanely Great Apple Channel Of course they do ! The antiglare coating is so thin and fragile that it goes away with a simple friction with a wipe or windex ! But again, it depends of the batch and construction quality of your Retina display, because some are more robust and won't disappear so simply...
